    Dell 3008WFP Vertical Line

Was hoping to get some opinion on this.

I was thinking of buying a second hand Dell 3008WFP for super cheap (almost spare part money), but am not sure it's a good idea because (a) it's old, and (b) it has a black vertical line as pictured when it's turned on, but it goes away after a while. Does anyone have an opinion as what this might be? Is this a fixable issue (cap/ribbon, etc)? Or is the LCD panel itself going bad?

If it's potentially fixable I'll probably jump on it, but if it's the beginning of the end, probably makes sense to skip it.

You can try disconnect the ribbon cable which connects to lcd panel.
Then use an eraser to clean off any dirt/rust from the cable exposed pins and also the pins on the lcd panel side.
Connect everything back, and hope the black vertical line is gone.
I have done this with success on an Acer monitor. Hope yours work too.
Otherwise it is easy to buy a replacement lcd panel.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Given I haven't spend any money on it, it's probably not worth the risk. Cheers.

          Re: Dell 3008WFP Vertical Line

Last time I turned on my 3008WFP, the screen went black, then the right half had faint vertical blue and black lines.... Have taken the monitor apart and don't see any bad caps, will replace D22, however I suspect there may be a panel issue.... Any ideas?

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
            by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Vizio E701i-A3 fixed but now has red vertical line
            by otaku_nut
Hi all, I tried searching the site for answers but I'm a bit over my head understanding some of what might apply and what doesn't, so please be patient with me. I used Freakaftr8's fix to remove the left driver board to restore picture to a black screen with sound Vizio E701i-A3. After doing so, I now have a large red vertical stripe down the center of the screen. The fix did require getting another t-con board from online, I ordered it before I knew about the mosfit fix for the old t-con board. I have tried cleaning the cable connections to the t-con board. I swapped the cables going from...

            Kogan - KALED65XU9220STB - Blue Vertical Line
            by TrueSword88
            Hi all.

I have a Kogan 65' LCD Panel with a thin blue vertical line (top to bottom) on left hand side of panel.
The line just happens to coincide with the end of COF and start of the next COF (attached).

The line is permanent no matter what I've tried. I've tried pressure testing the panel (top to bottom) and all over, I didn't notice any difference with the line, either temporary or semi-permanent.

Also tried unplugging all flex cables, cleaned with isopropyl then re-inserting to no avail - line remains.

To fix laptop screen vertical line by working on its EDP cable
            by almarhum
Has one here really gone through fixing laptop screen vertical line(s) by repairing/replacing its Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable, so would recount and share the complete steps of the process here now?

As most, if not all, believe the laptop screen vertical line(s) caused by defective Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable which slipped and passed through either laptop screen hinge but post here is asking help to elaborate definitively the useful, real knowledge of repairing in the most complete, correct way, esp. can decide/determine whether the cable can still be fixed or must be re...

Samsung UE58TU7100K - no picture, vertical line
            by mrsith
            Hi.

Got UE58TU7100K with no picture - backlight comes on though. Figured out that's a perfect candidate for cut tape method.

This model has just one LVDS tape coming off main board - and two panel boards underneath the LCD screen are connected to each other via small tape. Like curved screens. I've tried to disconnect half of the screen (5he side without LVDS connector on it, obviously), no joy.

Disconnected the tape (main board side). Applied a small piece of tape, covering first ~4-5 pins. Powered the TV on - got picture. In negative, but that's...
