    Re: lamp tester

You can get a ccfl tester from ebay for very little money no need for a chassis.

        Re: lamp tester

nobody sells a *real* lamp tester, just invertors that will light them up.
what you really need is an invertor and an ameter inline to see how much current the tube is using.

because as a tube ages, it uses more current, and in a tv/monitor they will be detected as drawing too much current and considered faulty even though they will still light up.

I recently bought this CCFL tester, works great.
I feed it 12v to light up the lamp totally.

You can use your DMM in between to measure the flowing current.

            yes, the DMM is good.
if your testing a lot, it may be better to get one of those cheap chinese led ameter modules from ebay and case it all together.

Current measurement. Lamp's current is around 7~10mA AC.

Epson 5040UB Projector No Lamp Strike Stuck in Startup - Blinking Status/Lamp Lights
                  by vestaviascott
Hoping someone here can put me on the right track. I'm trying to troubleshoot/flowchart the "internal projector error" on my newly acquired Facebook Marketplace bought Epson 5040UB projector (3LED, not DLP). Owner said it needed new lamp, actually error code blink pattern indicates "Internal Projector Error, call Epson support". Unit is out of warranty as of 8/19

                  Here's what happens:

                  1) Power on
                  2) Blue power indicator lights and the lens cover motor opens the lens cover, light fan noise heard
                  3) Blue status light flashes for appx 4 minutes...

BenQ TH681 Originally overheating now wont fire the lamp - Colour wheel not starting
                  by AJ847.63e
                  Hi All.

Does anyone have any reference materials or something I can use to try troubleshooting a BenQ TH681? Google unfortunately has turned up zip. I did find a service manual for a W series BenQ but that is pretty much useless, it's more a glorified user manual. A list of voltages would be great as I suspect my mainboard is faulty, the colour wheel voltage is not dipping like it should.

The one I am troubleshooting now was originally overheating after a lamp replacement. It originally would take 2 minutes or so for it to shut off and blink the temp and lamp lights...

Help on Samsung Syncmaster T220 dead ccfl lamp
                  by mikey5791
                  Hi,

This monitor previously is my main working monitor which i have been using for 8~9 years. Yesterday, when i switched on my pc from fresh to power on, the monitor is just black no display. I started dismantle to look inside the monitor power board but nothing looks suspicious or burnt. So i took my external ccfl inverter to try to power the monitor ccfl lamps which consisted of 2 lamps on upper part and 2 lamps on the lower part.

Found out the upper ccfl lamp which is supposed to connect to cn304 on the power board did not light up. Then i installed a used working...

                  by Lifeisfun
                  Hi folks!
I have some kind of memory problem on Lenovo laptop. I was initially able to install windows after several tries since the laptop did freeze in middle of those attempts.
Eventually I discovered that it was related to moving the laptop.
Later on it even stopped booting unless I pressed around the memory slot. (no keyboard LEDs only power button responds)
If I remove the RAM I get the beeps that RAM is missing. Inserting the RAM there is silence and it will not boot most of the time. No picture.

I removed the board got one of those memory slot testers...

test active pfc power with lamp test
                  by khelane
                  Hello
I have a big problem and that is that in some cases when repairing active pfc power supplies I cannot work with a test lamp. I can only get help with 5 volts standby and for starting and starting I have to work without a lamp and this way there is a possibility of parts exploding and other parts being added.
Sometimes with a multimeter test the problems can be reduced to some extent, but I had several cases that had to be tested on and online and recently two varistors exploded. They had terrible resistance because the power supplies were over 800 watts.
                  Is there a way...
