    Dell 2480zx dreamcolor pink tint.

    Got this Dell dreamcolor 2480zx that has a pink tint. Been looking around to point me in the direction that would cause this. The color on the photo posted exaggerates the pink, it's not as strong as it looks, but really noticeable.
    Struggled to open this monitor. Looking inside the caps visually look ok.

    Anyone with suggestions?

          Good point, I'll check tomorrow. I suppose I need to lift the main board and check if there's another connector underneath going directly to the LCD.

                  I think the HP logo means it's not a Dell

                  I've seen failing CCFL tubes turn the image pink.

                          diif, I can't believe I titled it a Dell. I knew going into this it was HP -duh!

                          I thought of the CCFL too but don't know any better, this is suppose to be an LED display. Would the LED cause the pink?

                          budm, I did use two different computers and cables but the display still has some pink.

                          I never saw a monitor with so much electronics, typically 2 or 3 boards. This one has another board under a cooling fan. I can post some pix later.

                              Ahh, seems it uses RGB LED backlighting, rather than edge lit so yes i guess it could be causing the fault. The pink looked exactly like a monitor i have here that is caused by faulty CCFLs.

                                  At one time I did have a monitor which I replaced the CCFL. The monitor kept turning black. The failing CCFL had a pink tint to it.

                                  At this point I don't really have anything to loose. I'll try replacing the green caps on the board. I have some extra caps anyway.

                                      Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

                                      Could someone help trying to unlock this BIOS, seems that Dell have changed the layout of new Dell Pro 8FC8 bioses from checking HXD - 4000 bits do not need changing, only 2000. However after FF the section starting from '01000' upto 2000 bits and then soldering the chip back it seems that the microchip on the motherboard is recovering the bios back to original settings after first boot. Has anyone found a way to crack this extra layer of security Dell have implemented? Seems both HP and Dell have upped bios security to match Lenovo by implementing extra measures on a separate...

                                      I would like to share my experience about charging issues with Dell power supplies with the tech community. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 5590, Mainboard 18778-1 with charging problems. The device can be switched on and works so far, only the message appears at startup:

                                      Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and Type cannot be determined. The battery may not change. The System will adjust the performace to match the power available.

                                      I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:
