    ACER AL1916W Orange Light Only

Hello, after all the help I recently had on a Samsung TV, I was hoping you guys could help me out one more time. This time the patient is an ACER AL1916W monitor that has been working fine up until yesterday afternoon. The orange light stays on, power button does nothing (won't turn the monitor off or on, LED never changes from orange). I unplugged for 24 hours (because that always works I guess???) and hoped that would somehow magically fix it, alas, it was not to be.

I opened the case hoping to find bulged CAPS (and maybe an easy fix?); however, that wasn't to be the case. I have no idea where to begin testing on something like this so I would like to thank you in advance for any guidance. I'm hoping to save this old girl...

I've attached large pictures of the boards. Thanks again.

So when it is does not detect the video from running PC, it stays in standby. It can be the logic/scaler board problem. There are two 3-pin SMD voltage regulators on the top left of the logic board, you can try heating up that section with hair dryer to see if it will response, otherwise take the DC voltages of all 3 pins and report the readings, use chassis as the ground ref point (board has to be mounted so the ground pads on the board will make contact with the chassis).

Hello again Bud. I've attached a pic of what I'm seeing. All values are DCV.

Edit: No response after heating either. Computer detects monitor... monitor doesn't detect computer...

Those seem ok - does the part number indicate 33 an 18 respectively

Have you tested the small yellow fuse - top right. NO power to board
Meter on ohms 200 should read the same as touching the probes together

Selldoor, I will have to double check the part # when I get home, I can't make it out in the pictures. Also, please excuse my ignorance, but I can't tell which is the fuse? Is it visible in the picture I posted the voltage checks in?

Bud, I did check the VGA and DVI with no luck; this happens to be in a dual monitor setup so I had the luxury of testing cables and ports between the two to rule out my video card and cables.

            Thanks again,
            Kevin

Fuse is in your picture pic 1 top right corner - it will say F*** on the board next to it.

Re: ACER AL1916W Orange Light Only

Ok. I found two fuses on the power supply board, they both check little to no resistance (but not infinite). Continuity checks ok. Are there any fuses on the logic board I should check? I only found two components that started with an "f", but they are both "FB###". Not sure what these are?

Selldoor, the voltage regulators do state 33 (top in my pic) and 18 (bottom in my pic).

When i fully shut off mac, orange light goes off and wont react to power button. I have difficult time resetting with combination "shift+control+option and power button", because it rarely works (reason unknown), when i manage to get orange light and then press power button macbook wont turn on and orange light goes off. When i hold combination with power button it turns on, and works fine if put it to sleep mode.

Works with battery and charges, but when i shut off i get this problem.

It had liquid spill. Board has no corrosion, keyboard is working, power button...

                  by Rezendes
Hello, I have a MacBook 820-3115-B board that never shows an Orange light and goes straight to a green light and turns itself on when the ac adapter is plugged in. System won’t run off battery and turns off immediately when ac power unplugged. I believe the battery should be ok as it was a replacement not too long ago but it’s possible that’s the issue as most anything is possible I guess. I don’t have any spare batteries or donor boards although I have ordered 2 on the way. I have replaced U7000 and same results. I have also applied flux and reflowed the SMC IC and no change. Nothing...
