Thanks again Bud... The kiss of death.

  • Vizio VF550M No picture, blue streak at top.

Just acquired this old girl from a neighbor that didn't want to mess with it. Thought I would at least check it out and make sure it's not a cheap fix. I can't really seem to find any common denominator's with this model so I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I've attached a picture of the screen, and this is universal to all inputs (including the OTA tuner) so I'm thinking it's not the input board. Any ideas on where to start? I know this isn't worth spending much on, but would be nice to get a few years out of it if I can still find parts.

Thanks in advance for any and all help....

  • Re: ACER AL1916W Orange Light Only

Ok. I found two fuses on the power supply board, they both check little to no resistance (but not infinite). Continuity checks ok. Are there any fuses on the logic board I should check? I only found two components that started with an "f", but they are both "FB###". Not sure what these are?

Selldoor, the voltage regulators do state 33 (top in my pic) and 18 (bottom in my pic).

Selldoor, I will have to double check the part # when I get home, I can't make it out in the pictures. Also, please excuse my ignorance, but I can't tell which is the fuse? Is it visible in the picture I posted the voltage checks in?

Bud, I did check the VGA and DVI with no luck; this happens to be in a dual monitor setup so I had the luxury of testing cables and ports between the two to rule out my video card and cables.

    Thanks again,
    Kevin...

Hello again Bud. I've attached a pic of what I'm seeing. All values are DCV.

Edit: No response after heating either. Computer detects monitor... monitor doesn't detect computer......

  • ACER AL1916W Orange Light Only

Hello, after all the help I recently had on a Samsung TV, I was hoping you guys could help me out one more time. This time the patient is an ACER AL1916W monitor that has been working fine up until yesterday afternoon. The orange light stays on, power button does nothing (won't turn the monitor off or on, LED never changes from orange). I unplugged for 24 hours (because that always works I guess???) and hoped that would somehow magically fix it, alas, it was not to be.

I opened the case hoping to find bulged CAPS (and maybe an easy fix?); however, that wasn't to be the case. I...

My particular settings was in "Control" ----> "Sub Option" -----> "LVDS Format" and it had to be set to VESA.

You sirs are geniuses... I have poured over many of your posts in my research and sure enough, Shinju was right. I really appreciate you taking the time to help out a lowly troll/leach/knowledge seeker.

Also, I'd like to note that I don't have the common failure chip (I believe the common failure is an AS15). My particular IC is a AS19-H1G. Google didn't bring up many of these as being a problem child, but their ebay-availability leads me to believe that these fail also.

    Thank you again.

  • Re: Samsung LN40B530P7N Picture Issue

So I took the plunge and ordered a new T-conn board from Ebay.... Ironically, my picture looks like this now (classic T-conn board symptoms from what I gather). I reinstalled my board just to be sure I was seating cables properly, etc and it still exhibits the same symptoms as before.... In my simple mind, beings that the symptoms changed, I found the problem (or part of it), now it's just a matter of getting a good part.....?...

I'm getting a fairly loud buzzing/whining sound from the t-con, I'm not sure if a faulty mainboard would cause this or if this is a sign of a bad t-con board. Given the lack of availability on the mainboard, I think I'm going to gamble on the t-con and see what happens. The fact that menus are working fine concern me, but this buzzing sound certainly isn't right either.

Further research leads me to believe that the tcon is ok given that my menus are fine. I've checked all analog and digital inputs and I get the same thing.

Is it possible that it's the main board? Any way to test these without a scope?

  • Samsung LN40B530P7N Picture Issue

I've combed through the relevant guides and posts and I'm pretty sure I'm looking at a failed tcon board. This isn't the infamous AF15G, so I'm leery to jump to the conclusion that this is the problem. It started with horizontal lines of all colors scrolling up and down the black areas of the screen, then I started to get some inversion (not sure what to call it, looked like a negative of the picture) and now I just have horizontal lines scrolling up and down the screen. You can still watch the tv, but the black areas all have these lines and the picture itself is much less than great. On a blank...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hello, Google brought me to this site to try and troubleshoot a misbehaving Samsung LCD. I've played with computers for years, but this is my first foray into TVs/Panels and I'm sure I'm going to learn something along the way.

    Thanks,
    Kevin
