I understand that in order to get the timings right and deliver all those pixels, dual channel LVDS is used for resolutions above 1280x800 (or somewhere around there), but are both channels still used at 640x480, or is the second channel used only when at resolutions when the timings would be unsuitable for 1? Basically, I have working controller boards from displays whose (2CH LVDS) panels were smashed, and I have working (1CH) panels from old laptops, but no controller boards--i was wondering, if wired properly, can I connect these as long as I run them at low resolutions?
My gut tells me that the innards of the monitor are probably always using both channels, but I'm hoping that sometimes the manufacturers would use the same controller boards with smaller panels in cheaper models...
it's a shot in the dark, but hey...i'm trying. ;x
