4 individual lamps, 2 per assembly, thus 4 set of connectors.

hmm.. so does that mean 2 of them are bad in my case? since after flipping the board, I connected the pink/white and blue/black to the board and nothing turned on, then I switched pink/white with blue/black also nothing turned on

It only take one bad lamp to cause the circuit to go into shutdown. I have a feeling it will bad solder connection at the end of the lamp.
Did you see the test lamps flash on for seconds?

So is it monitor dissecting time? Any advise or a guide that I can follow that won't lead to a disaster?

Yes they do flash for a second once I connect the power cable, then black then on.

Just take your time, I really do not know how to explain how to take the screen apart even though I have done many, just no good at explanation. I hope some one can give you step by step or search youtube.

Found the piece of $h*t thats been causing all of this.

So one lamp assembly is broken, the other is a bit black on the sides.
First picture is the broken lamp, the other two pictures are of the left and right side of the other lamp assembly.

Are there any chemicals that Im not supposed to inhale? There's a funny smell... it's too late now anyway lol

How can I figure out which lamp to order?

Glad that you finally found the real cause of the problem, without building two test lamps we would not have been 100% sure. I am glad you did.

No worries, Im not next to it. I will leave it outside till I get the replacement and then throw it away, just in case I need any parts from it.

Its a 22" screen and it says Chi Mei on the label on the screen. Measuring the assembly length is 19 1/4 inches. Any idea where I can get it from? the longest at lcdparts is 15.6 for Chi Mei brand.

EDIT: measuring from glass to glass its 18.5"

See edited post 51. Are you getting the bare lamps or trying to get the whole assembly, which is harder to get? BTW, one of the bad lamp looks really cooked.

The first set of the model number fits my screen but mine is L06 while the first link is L01 and the second is L03

I prefer getting the entire assembly if I can find it.

Yes, it will be better if you do not like to do delicate soldering works. Try contacting CCFLWAREHOUSE to see what they say about them, not bad price for complete lamp with wires and connectors.

I wouldn't mind the soldering but my cheap unbranded soldering iron tip is already melting after I did 2 sets of caps on the board

Since now the mystery is solved. I have one more small question if anyone can help that would be great.

When I changed the caps the first time, I didn't realize there was one that is 470uF 25v and another that's 470uF 16v so I replaced them randomly and didn't know if I placed each one in the right place. Then I replaced the 470uF 16v with a 470uF 25v because I read that going higher in voltage doesn't matter but going lower does. I'm just a bit paranoid and would like to know where does the 16v cap go so I can put it back on the board. If any one knows I would appreciate the info.

I attached some pictures showing where I have both 25v caps installed right now. (One of them should be 16v but I have no idea which one)

Higher voltage is OK as long as the bigger body will still fit into the board.
