I just tore down one of those cheapo netbooks for kids and salvaged a useless display out of it. I took that LED stripe out of it and thought that maybe I can convert it into a desk lamp or whatever. I connected it to am ATX PSU 5V rail and it didn't o jack shit. I connected it to the 12V rail and i lit up really bright but got hot. Is it supposed to get hot? What is the correct voltage for it?

Re: LED backlight voltage?
What ever you do, you need to limit the current through the LED to about 20mA for most LED. So you should use current limiting resistor or power supply with constant current source.Never stop learning
