Samsung 2443BW. 2 seconds to black

    Hi everybody,

I have a Samsung 2443BW with a 2 seconds to black symptom. This only happens when there's a source (analog or digital) plugged in. When there's only OSD that says no source... everything is "fine". As you can see on the last picture, there's a white cloud, ghost or whatever you want to name it at the bottom right of the screen, near the power led.

What is the problem ? the bottom ccfl is dead ? The leakage of the white light at the bottom is a sign of this almost death ? I would appreciate your help on this case. Thanks.

    BenV

Just another general question. I've got plenty of 19 and 20 " ccfl from dead monitors. Is it safe to plug them in the place of a 24 one just to test ? Same voltage ? any risk of explosion du to overdrive ?

      Any ideas/updates?

I have almost the same problem with the same model, just that top half of the backlight is completely dim.

Tested with some other CCFL-s - same problem.
Tested transformer - looks fine to me (primary 1 ohm, 1. secondary 1010 ohms, 2. secondary 1045 ohms)

That is more like the corrupted EEPROM on the main board problem.

It explains the problem that it goes black after a sec when source is connected but does it explain the problem that top CCFL-s dont work?

The top lamp is half way lit? That can be bad transformer or bad connection at the lamp out put connector, the transformer reading is right at the 3% diff so I would suspect bad transformer. I would remove the transformer and look at the under side and see. This one also has lamp half way lit.

No, it is not half way lit, it is not lit at all.

              Edit:
I checked again. It actually does produce some light at both of the ends of top side CCFL-s.
Then yeah, might aswell replace the transformer.
