Having a problem diagnosing this old tv, seems to be a powerboard problem, trying to trace the problem from power in at ac cord to power out to ccfl lamps but not doing very well in the attempt, power board there: https://www.shopjimmy.com/samsung-bn...w-605563813499

Re: Samsung ccfl tv powerboard clicks every 5 seconds.
If memory serves me right, there are 2 issues that are on top of my head. Depending what your issue is. One was bad capacitors and the other one involved resetting or FFing (some replaced) an eeprom followed by going into the service menu and change something after the reset.
All depends on how you test this PSU by itself or with the main board? Anyway, this particular PSU clicking is a common occurrence.

Re: Samsung ccfl tv powerboard clicks every 5 seconds.
Thanks CapLeaker, this board I got from ebay seems to be defective, has standby solid but no other voltage when all connected, when connected the relay just clicks twice every 5 seconds, changed out the caps next to connector, same result, when unhooked from mainboard it does not click, do you know how to connect it as stand alone? I thought I rigged it up before but it's been a few years and I'm drawing a blank, the second 5 pin connector from powerboard to mainboard is the one I don't know how to jumper, Thanks.

Re: Samsung ccfl tv powerboard clicks every 5 seconds.
The original powerboard has no standby voltage, wonder if that one may be easier to fix but I can't figure out how to get the standby fixed, found several schemas for this model but every one is just a little different than this board.Last edited by nomoresonys; 07-03-2023, 07:43 AM.

This is the schematic but it seems a little different than the one in the sj link which is the same one I have:Last edited by nomoresonys; 07-03-2023, 08:06 AM.

Re: Samsung ccfl tv powerboard clicks every 5 seconds.
Just noticed that RP808 on bottom of board has 4.7k ohms the marking is 1003 which is 100k ohms, maybe that needs changed out, looks like it's way off. Just checked it on the other board and it's 4.7 also.Last edited by nomoresonys; 07-03-2023, 09:39 AM.

Re: Samsung ccfl tv powerboard clicks every 5 seconds.
Some pictures of original board where I lost the standby, got impatient and ripped out a thru hole, did a "stitch" I guess with the red wire but I think it's buggered, I have QI802 showing a voltage drop from drain to gate, I think it's only suppose to read from drain to source, took the Q out it's reading only one way while out which I think is ok. pads still reading in both directions, pads are showing short from gate to source, other thing I noticed is RI840R is only reading 40 ohms, I think it should read 10k, removed it and pads still read 40 ohms.Last edited by nomoresonys; 07-03-2023, 04:03 PM.

Re: Samsung ccfl tv powerboard clicks every 5 seconds.
This is the same old tv from this thread, isn't worth anything but I would like to get it working, I guess because it's one of the first lcd tvs I bought, senti-"mental" I suppose, should prolly just chuck it, lol: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=42731

Re: Samsung ccfl tv powerboard clicks every 5 seconds.
I am guessing the old board with the broken standby does not click the relay. Standby needs to be present for it to work.
your RP808 is supposed to be 100k ohms cording to the schematic.
Make sure the STBY secondary isn't shorted.
Then start from the beginning and check NT801, if it is blown = no stdby.
check voltage on CP809
ICS801 is your stby. Check CS802 and CS803 as both will sour your day and DS801 and DS802. Could be that ICS801 is bad.

Re: Samsung ccfl tv powerboard clicks every 5 seconds.
Ok, with board plugged into power, upside down, cable to mainboard unhooked, the original board has, CP809 166v, CS802 5v, CS803 1.5milivolts, DS801 166v on both ends reference to - filter cap leg, DS802 5v on stripe/cathode side, ov on anode side, both diodes read .424 and ol in diode mode, diode measurement taken with tv unplugged, wanted to clarify that, don't want anyone blowing up their meter.Last edited by nomoresonys; 07-03-2023, 06:32 PM.

Re: Samsung ccfl tv powerboard clicks every 5 seconds.
??? ICS801 needs about 18V to be able to turn on and its turning off @ about 10V... and you got 5V across CS802?
check what you get on the other board. I think the board also can do this clicking relay thing when the PFC isn't working. See what voltage you get across the main filter cap.Last edited by CapLeaker; 07-04-2023, 05:24 AM.
