  • Re: Kramer Tavor 5-O powered speakers

I pulled out the R20 resistor but it's ok. My multimeter gives me 10ohms.

  • Re: Kramer Tavor 5-O powered speakers

First of all "Happy new year" and thanks again for your help

Redwire. After you talked about the R20 resistor, i opened another pair of speaker and i looked closely the flyback supplys right bottom corners and i found what you can see on pictures sp1flybcksupp.jpg and sp2flybcksupp.jpg. I think that this is the spot where the electric arc happened !

The R20 resistor on SP1 is definitely blown. Is it enough to kill the board and completely disable the audio output ?

The auto mode on SP2 doesn't...

  • Re: Kramer Tavor 5-O powered speakers

Pins 4 and 11 of the opamp give me - 12,9v and +12,1v
    Pins 1, 7, 8 and 14 give me more or less 0v

I checked the main volume potentiometer and it's ok too.

  • Re: Kramer Tavor 5-O powered speakers

    Thanks for your help Khron.

The led lights a solid green on the "On" position and if i put the switch to "Auto", it lights red if there's no input and green if i plug it in my computer audio output.

About the red & yellow wires between the main boards, here are the results :

    Yellow : - 19,32v
    Black : - 001,3mv
    Black : - 001,3mv
    Red : + 19,08v

Does that mean that the power supply is ok ?

What is the purpose of the 3 wires white cable between...

  • Kramer Tavor 5-O powered speakers

    Hello everbody,

I have 5 pairs of Kramer Tavor 5-O speakers that have been damaged by overvoltage (thunderstorm). The power seems to be ok. The power led ligths when they are plugged in but no sound at all. I checked the boards but i could'nt find any sign of burning or something like that.

My question is, what should i check first ? I only have a multimeter.

    Thanks.

Attached are some pictures of the boards of the powered speaker....

  • Re: Philips 32PFL3506/F7 no power

I finally found the service manual :

    I followed troubleshooting flow chart n1 (page 8.1) and it says to check all of these components (C605, D601, D602, D603, D604, Q601, Q602,
Q603, Q604, IC602, T601). I did it except for the two last. Does a transformer can be bad ? The service manual also talk about a AL+33V that could be checked at the cathode of D638 (flow chart n5) and when i check it, i only got 6.xx Volts. Is it normal ? is it a stanby voltage ? Where can i check the stanby voltage exactly ? Is there...

  • Philips 32PFL3506/F7 no power

    Hi everyone,

A friend of mine bring me his Philips 32PFL3506/F7 TV with no power at all, not even the power led. I open up the TV and check visually all the components and everything seems ok. I check the fuse but it's not the problem. Where can i start ? What can i check first. I already fix few monitors with bad capacitors or defective mosfets with your help, but i'm a newbie ...

  • Viewsonic N3252W No display

    Hi everyone,

My Stepfather gave me his Viewsonic N3252W to (try) fix it. Suddenly, one day, the display went off. The power button stay green and the sound work but that's all. I already replaced a NKS N3856VG chip on the under side of the power board because the area around was brown (heat) and because i found some people talking about this possible faulty piece.

After that, i took pictures of the board and i made measurements. Here they are:

To the logic board CN801 :
number color power off power on
    1 black 0 0
    2 black 0 0...

  • Samsung 2443BW. 2 seconds to black

    Hi everybody,

I have a Samsung 2443BW with a 2 seconds to black symptom. This only happens when there's a source (analog or digital) plugged in. When there's only OSD that says no source... everything is "fine". As you can see on the last picture, there's a white cloud, ghost or whatever you want to name it at the bottom right of the screen, near the power led.

What is the problem ? the bottom ccfl is dead ? The leakage of the white light at the bottom is a sign of this almost death ? I would appreciate your help on this case. Thanks.

  • Cisco SG 100D-08 gigabit switch - No power

    Hi,

I found in the trash a Cisco SG 100D-08 gigabit switch like new but with absolutly no power at all. The power supply is ok and delivered 12 V. It seems that there's no fuse on board and in fact, i don't know where to start and what to check first. I already fixed some monitors with badcaps and i have a multimeter.

Here are both sides of the board.

    Thanks for your help....

  • Re: Viewsonic VG2230WM-3 - No Power

    1) in fact it's a 22uf 50v and i've got 9v to 14v not stable at all across this one (ltec brand) !

    2) The chip is a STR W6252. It is not shorted to GND

    3) D101 seems to be shorted. D102 is ok

I'will replace the cap and the diode and see what's next.. Thanks retiredcaps.

  • Viewsonic VG2230WM-3 - No Power

    Hi everyone,

I'm trying to fix a Viewsonic VG2230WM-3 with no power. I replaced 6 bulged teapo 470uf 25v with brand new Rubycon capacitors and nothing change. The only new thing that has emerged is a ticking, like a clock, clear and regular.

I checked few things with my multimeter.

I have 165V at the big cap
To the right on the power board, to the logic board i made 5 measurements and here are the results:

    BL-ADJ : 0.5 V not stable
    GND : 0
    GND : 0
    + 5 : 1.2 v to 1.5 v not stable
    + 13.(something unreadable)...

  • Re: LG FLATRON W2042TQ-BF. blue led - no display

First of all, i want to thank you all for your precious help

I bought 10 AP4525GEH on the site from the link i posted before and after i received those precious mosfets from the other side of the world, i tried to put two of them back at the place they are supposed to be on my first monitor and ...drum roll... the Flatron W2042TQ is back on earth ...hallelujah !

As you can see, i'm quite happy of my first "something else than a capacitor" soldering success.

    There's two more...

  • Re: LG FLATRON W2042TQ-BF. blue led - no display

I desoldered both and here is the result:

    U303-----U304
    open-----open
    open-----open
    open-----open
    3.4------open
    3.5------open
    0.3------open

Does this mean that only U303 is shorted ? Both mosfet were plugged in parallel on the circuit. Is it the reason that i had the same result on both of them before?

    I found a chinese website that sell AP4525GEH :

1 - The light doesn't stay. It doesn't even full light at all ! I will try the torch on the panel to see if something is hidden underneath.

2 - Yes i had a full set of ccfls plugged in. I tried two different sets i got and i know they are ok. They were pulled from dead monitors and tested. I already used them to troubleshoot dead ccfl on others monitors....

    Here are the results:

0.978 on one side and 0.970 on the other side. This means that the transformer is good, isn't it ?...

Ok. I'll do it and i'll also test the two other monitors to see if i've got the same readings.

If those mosfet are dead, where can i find replacement ? Nothing on Digikey's website. And if they are dead, is it possible that they kill other parts when they died. Just to know if it worth the not so easy fix.

    Thanks....

Hope i made no mistake this time:

    U303 - U304
    open - open
    open - open
    open - open
    3.4 - 3.4
    3.4 - 3.4
    0.3 - 0.4

    Sounds good ?...
