I'm ashamed of the desoldering to be honest. I'll manage a shot and upload it.

Re: Dell ST2410b Backlight Shuts Off

Sorry guys, work, life etc getting in the way...

Anyhow, even though the soldering looks bad (with the board being browned and all) I think it might not be my current problem after all. It seems like somewhere between me ordering the inverter IC and soldering it on, the LCD (LVDS?) ribbon cable has ripped. Which would probably explain the symptoms I am getting for the time being.

Now need to find and order that!

Does anyone have any ideas on where I might be able get the ribbon cable I posted just before?

Re: Dell ST2410b Backlight Shuts Off

          Hi guys,

I'll hope someone still reads this, but I have a Dell ST2410b, and have the same problem as PohTayToez.

If I connect the monitor to my PC, the backlight shuts down after 1-2 seconds. I haven't measured the capacitors yet(multimeter can't measure capacitance), but they are not visiully broken or shorted(Diode mode test).

The mosfets seem fine, the resistors between the pins are >1k ohm.

I also tested the fuse(0.5 Ohm), so this one also works properly.

          So what is next?
-Should I measure the BL_on signal, as is done in the upper posts?
-Or should I make a test setup to test the ccfl's? (How do I do this?)

          Thanks

            Hi Niek,

This symptom you have described is usually the capacitors. I believe the only proper way to measure the capacitors is with an ESR meter. Degradation on capacitors aren't necessarily visually apparent. The most common visual indicator of bad capacitors are the bulging on the tops.

Really, all other tests bypassing the capacitors in my opinion is a waste of time. First make sure the capacitors are good (or replace them). If that doesn't fix it then other avenues could be explored...

            Hope that helps

Dell G3 15 3500 - Battery bug (black screen and flashing keyboard backlight)
              by HTR-Informatique
              Hello,

YouTube video of the problem encountered: https://youtube.com/shorts/q7TLNv36LUo

I am a pro and I have a problem that I have never seen despite my 7.5 years of experience on my own and my thousands of repairs, on a customer's Dell G3 15 3500.

On this PC I have already changed the complete palmrest because the keyboard was no longer working properly.

I also changed the screen because the PC fell and the screen was broken.

I changed the battery with a new and original battery.

I also had corrosion/oxidation on the...

Guide me through repairing a Dell p2210f LCD ccfl backlight monitor
              by DanPoka
I bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
              by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Dell laptop powers up with kb backlight about 10 seconds, then shuts off
              by survivalbloke
I've got a Dell Latitude 5580 which came in for no power. It's not exactly a no power issue though. The battery was puffy so I replaced that, but the symptom is that when the power button is depressed, the keyboard backlights will come on for about 10 seconds then go back off. Before depressing power button, I am drawing 112ma and oddly, there is no change in current draw once the button is pressed and the keyboard backlights illuminate.

              Any ideas?

Dell inspiron 15 7567 sudden shuts down
              by samuelphirik
              Hi. I have a pre-owned Dell Inspiron 15 7567. It worked fine
During the first 3 days of owning it until Dell Update software popped a notification about a latest Bios version 1.15.0 and latest Intel ME Software update of which I updated. It rebooted and firstly, Upgraded Bios from version 1.8.1 to 1.15.0 then it started upgrading Intel ME firmware. After that update, my laptop shuts down without notice (Like thermal shutdown)
I checked Thermal Paste on the processor and the Graphics Chip and it was dry. Replacing thermal paste has not helped me.
              Now I've noticed that laptop...
