    LG L1715S bad startup cap

Got this one in today, there is no power light.
No caps with bulging top. The 5V is fluctuating around 4.5~4.7V, the 12v reads steady at around 13V.
So the 5V is unstable and not good enough for the logic board to run. The 12v is showing steady due to no load, but if I put 1A load on it, then it fluctuates also.
Heat up the whole board with hair dryer, I use hair dryer to troubleshoot the board when I do not see any caps with bulging tops, while monitoring the 5V, after a few minutes of heat, the 5V become stable at 5V and now the monitor will power up and works OK again.
Then I use cold spray the startup cap in the primary side, the unit shut down and the 5v becomes unstable again, replace that cap. The cap has ESR of around 3 Ohms when cold, drops down to about 1/2 Ohm after heat up.
    I also recap the board.

    Heat pump tumble dryer regas
    by notallbad
Just wondering if anyone has successfully attempted a re-gas on a heat pump tumble dryer.

The dryer currently in question runs on R134a.
The dryer has been completely stripped down/cleaned/tested and re-assembled however there is no heating/cooling effect so working on the assumption it requires re-gassing. Of course, its likely theres a leak which would require soldering or even the possibility that the compressor has an internal fault even though it is running.

I was thinking of getting a car aircon regas kit or probably easier but slightly dearer an hvac...

    Hair dryer in water
    by Cmat2l
    Hello everyone!
I dropped a hair dryer in the water after using it. I pulled it out fast but it was still hot, plugged in the mains and switched off. Still in warranty but the shop I bought it is in another country. The local repair shops asked 50-60 eur for repair. The dryer cost 60 so I was thinking maybe there is smthng I could do to fix it my self. I took it apart but I reached the point that I cant understand what the problem might be. I dont have electronics knowledge. Just some basic electrical.

There are 3 leds that are blinking when is plugged in but it does...

Bosch Nexxt 500 dryer blinking start button - no start fix
    by CapLeaker
My Bosch NEXXT 500 dryer quit today, press start nothing happens and the start button just keeps blinking. Not cool. Reset the dryer, same thing.
Even so the buttons feel good, my problem was the start button smd tactile switch on the PCB. Cleaned the switch with alcohol followed with Deoxit and the sucker runs like a champ again.

Mounting and Handling Guidelines for TO220 TO220F TO247 Cases / Packages

The TO220, TO220F and TO247 are the popular packages for power devices because of their versatility and ability to dissipate moderate amounts of heat. This application note describes the basic guidelines for handling power MOSFETs in TO220, TO220 and TO247 packages shown in Figure 1. Please note that only mechanical and soldering guidelines are covered here. Additional precautions are required for isolating high voltage rated devices to meet safety regulations.

Blomberg DV17600W laundry dryer MCU firmware needed. Please help!
    by Sam Scarbo
    Hello,
I'm helping my brother to fix his Blomberg laundry dryer. He called a repair guy to have a look and the repair guy said the control board is faulty. They said the replacement board costs $400. Too expensive! 😨 My brother asks me to take a look. He has checked the door switch and thermal fuse, etc., and those seems fine.
After plugged to mains, there is no display. There is just a clicking sound from the buzzer, like one click per second. No other response.
I suspect the firmware inside the MCU (ATMEGA64A) got corrupted. Can someone in this forum by any chance provide...
