Hi guys I was replacing the start up caps on this board and I pulled the copper trace on the 1uf @50 volts. The other two 22uf @50 volts were ok I know some of you have repaired broken traces but this is so small I can't see where the circuit leads. My question is how are these three caps connected in the circuit? Can I use a jumper to the leg with the broken trace?

Re: Broken Trace
Thanks guys I did as ben7 suggested as shown in the photo. This board was not powering up no led but I did have 5volt and 12 volt to the logic connector and 169 volts on the large cap.I replaced these three caps because they were the only ones that were not replaced and now I don't have any voltage to the logic connector but still have 169 volts on the large cap. Did I loose the voltage because of the broken trace?Last edited by davg; 09-18-2012, 07:32 PM.Comment

Re: Broken Trace
We need 2 new clear pictures of or the board after you have fitted the caps so that we can see whats going on and offer advice on what to test.Comment

Re: Broken Trace
Hi, looking at you very first picture on the bottom of the power board before you changed the capictor it should not have been connected to that reistor. There doesnt seem to be a trace going to it at all. I think thix is where you issue is.Comment

Re: Broken Trace
looking at your pictures that leg of that copy does not go to that resister if you get a strong light and look at a cleaned up pcb you should be able to see where it should go witch I think is to D106 looking at D106 from the top of the board it looks like D106 may be faulty and also I would be checking most of the silicon around that area and check all the caps around there.

I wasn't sure what pad was broken, b/c it wasn't marked.Muh-soggy-kneeComment

Re: Broken Trace
Thanks retirecaps I tried looking through it with a bright light (Photograph lamp) but cannot see where that trace goes. I though it went to the IC U101 as indicated early and I ran a wire to it no change still no voltage to the logic connector. Is there a schematic somewhere around for this board? Its a XP-04804-AComment

Re: Broken Trace
I look at the picture, since that leg of the cap is negative, then it should go to ground of the primary side, see the picture.
What is the P/N of that IC, it looks like pin 2? is connected to ground also. need IC spec to find out. It also looks like there is a connected trace to the right of the PAD also.Never stop learning

So right now the negative leg of that cap and the trace that I indicate are new all connected to the ground trace?Never stop learning

Re: Broken Trace
So I thought but it would seem I am not getting a good connection at that trace. Can I run a jumper to one of thes negative points and get the same results? I do I have to attach it to the proper trace?Comment

"Can I run a jumper to one of thes negative points and get the same results"
Do you mean that you have already jump the negative leg of the cap and the trace to the ground trace as shown in my picture and it still does not work?
I will look tomorrow to see if I have the same board laying around in my part bins.Never stop learning

Re: Broken Trace
Can I see that section of the trace that I have readlined to verify, the picture you posted was not clear enough. I still have to look up the spec of the IC. You can connect the negative leg of the cap, but not the trace until I can see the picture clearly, but I believe that broken trace is the ground trace.
So far no luck with that IC EA530 P/N search.
By the way, what is the make and model of this monitor?Last edited by budm; 10-05-2012, 09:58 AM.Never stop learning

by chth96When I assembled dreamcast I mistakenly fastened long bolt and It resulted in
cutting tiny trace.
This tiny trace(Total width of white coating is 5.5mm) is between R337,R343 and IC101 and it is covered with white coating in the below screenshot.
Firstly I tried to bridging tiny broken trace with my own eyes...But it is totally impossible..So a week ago, I ordered G1200 Digital Microscope and I magnified this tiny broken trace with it.
But It seems that It is really very tiny trace So I plan to order 0.1mm coper wire from aliexpress in order to bridging... -

by AstonishedHi friends of electronics
What you see in the video and pictures attached is the circuit for charging the batteries of a DC motor.
The problem is that this circuit cannot charge the batteries (3 1800mAH NiMH batteries) any more. When the circuit was OK, its green LEDs lit up one at a time to show that the batteries have charged more. But now that the circuit is flawed, LEDs light up as you see in the video and at the same time successive beeps are heard.
Please help me fix this circuit.

by EasyGoing1I don't know the first thing about where to even start looking for the result I'm looking for ... but what I want, is a circuit ... or maybe a certain transistor ... that will remain "closed" when the voltage at the base is 5 volts, but when that voltage gets to 4 volts or less, I need that transistor to turn on - preferably with maximum saturation. I would prefer that it also does not even turn on a little as the voltage approaches 4 volts, but remains closed until that voltage hits 4 volts.
Now, it would be OK if it had some kind of marginal transition from zero saturation... -
by eeneeHello guys. I got this motherboard that had liquid damage. The motherboard's type-c controller IC got shorted which resulted in main power rail failing to be produced and after replacement of the IC the main power rail returned. But the board is turning on and off. The current consumption is around 0.120Amps@20volts. After like 10 seconds it turns off and on endlessly. Checking the voltages on the coils:
