Hi..This is my first post ? I have a ViewSonic VX2235wm monitor that I purchased as faulty although there was life??...I had noted the extensive postings especially on this forum and thought I might just be able to fix it ....However I am stuck at the first hurdle ...When I plugged it in, the unit appears to be completely dead IE there is no power light etc ..so I am on the back foot immediately..I would welcome any advice on what I should initially look for as it seems to me that I need to get the unit to show me something before I can then use all the great information available here on past postings and try and get it working...Thankyou

Welcome to the forum- Please update your mains voltage in your profile.
We can help a lot more if you please post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

It will be useful if you can say what the supposed fault was and a bit about yourself - skills tools etc.
Test the lead on something else
Try another lead that you know is ok
Look for fuses on the boards when you take set apart and test them. Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: Viewsonic VX2235wm-5 _ Will not power up.
Hi..Can anybody please advise me on removing the inner cover over the circuit boards (seen in the middle of my photo attached to my previous post..)...I have removed 4 screws but I note there is a considerable amount of resistance to my trying to lift if off (which I understand its supposed to do)....I just want to ensure that I do the right thing here... Thanks RonComment

Re: Viewsonic VX2235wm-5 _ Will not power up.
Take out the 6 sided bolts on the VGA and DVI cable. There 4 in total. You can use a regular adjustable wrench to unscrew them.--- begin sig file ---

Re: Viewsonic VX2235wm-5 _ Will not power up.
Thankyou..Amazing that I found a site informing one how to take the cover off yet the VGA and DVI bolts were not mentioned....There is still resistance at the power socket end so will take the two screws out there and see what happens..Cheers RonComment

Hi ...Here are my pictures ..I hope that they are sufficient...The capacitors ( to me ) look alright ...Now as far as skills go ..well at 68 I have learnt how to solder etc and have made the odd electronic project but I do not understand electronics although I have tried...I have a couple of cheapo multimeters which I can use given precise instructions..I see no fuses in this unit unless they are hidden? Thanks RonComment

Re: Viewsonic VX2235wm-5 _ Will not power up.
1) Your fuse is right by the AC plug. I think it is labeled F100. With power off and lcd unplugged, a good fuse should measure 1.0 ohms.
Instructions on how to measure a fuse is at (section 3)
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...4&postcount=19
2) On the power board, there is likely a SMD fuse on the backside labeled F200.
3) If both fuses are good, then set your multimeter to 20V DC. Put your black probe onto a ground screw. Put your red probe on the connector pin between the two boards that is labeled +5V. What is the reading?--- begin sig file ---

Re: Viewsonic VX2235wm-5 _ Will not power up.
Thanks again for your help...You state that my Fuse is right beside the AC Plug ....Is this on the underside of the circuit board as I cannot see anything that is identifiable to me as a fuse on the top of the board..RonComment

Re: Viewsonic VX2235wm-5 _ Will not power up.
Hi Ron,
The fuse with be labelled on the board with an 'F'. There is one on the top near the socket and possibly one underneath.Comment

Re: Viewsonic VX2235wm-5 _ Will not power up.
Check close to or beneath the ground wire at the AC plug. The white paste might be covering it. Or check the back (green side) of the power board and observe close to the AC plug. The fuse starts with F.Comment

Re: Viewsonic VX2235wm-5 _ Will not power up.
The fuse is the small black rectangular box on the left side of the AC inlet, it is soldered in fuse.Never stop learning

Re: Viewsonic VX2235wm-5 _ Will not power up.
Goto google.com. Type in "fuse". Hit enter.
Click on images. It will show you all types of fuse pictures. Scroll down. As you can see, they come in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
It is impossible to tell if is fuse is good or not by looking at it. You have to measure it with a multimeter.
edit: Ironically, if you look at post #3, those are pictures of my boards. Your power board and mine look similar (both Delta). My fuse is right above the AC plug. It is a black circular fuse.Last edited by retiredcaps; 03-16-2012, 02:05 PM.--- begin sig file ---

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

by sam_sam_samI have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump
One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy... -
