Re: ViewSonic VX2235wm...
I can't speak for any other monitor but in regard to the VX2235, I've been able to fix stuck pixels.
Using a soft cloth over the tip of your finger, rub the screen with your finger nail in the area of the stuck pixel and see if that doesn't resolve the problem.Leave a comment:

Thanks PlainBill & PCBONEZ for the information you provided in this thread. I have three monitors with the same power boards with similar issues. Your posts enabled me to place an appropriate order @ Digikeys.Leave a comment:

Re: ViewSonic VX2235wm...
GP caps typically have lower Ripple Current ratings and won't last as long as the proper caps.
Interestingly I just got one of these as a freebie, but I won't have time to look at it until late next week.

Re: ViewSonic VX2235wm...
well, so far the monitor is working just fine, but if otherwise i will look into different places to purchase.Fry's does not sell low-esr caps. Most stores only stock general purpose caps. You should replace the existing caps (with the exception the large 450V, which rarely fails) with low-esr ones like the Panasonic FR, FM or FC series, or you'll likely be opening your monitor again in the near future.Leave a comment:

Stuck pixel. Unrepairable, unless you want to replace the panel.

See if it goes away with the capacitor replacement. Let's tackle one thing at a time here.
If it doesn't go away after the capacitors have been replaced, then we can advise further.Leave a comment:

Re: ViewSonic VX2235wm...
The faq has information on removing caps; there also are videos on youtube.hey guys, i have another different question. would the caps have anything to do with how the screen doesn't show, but only the blue light powers on, and if so, how can i safely change these bad caps. will the caps be safe to touch once i disconnect the power and give it a few minutes. also, can you guys recommend places where i could get these replacements on the attachments. thanks for your patience. i know i'm a noob, but with you guys help i can learn.
This procedure will walk you through the process of selecting replacement caps.

Not exactly what I asked for, but good enough that some problems are obvious.
Caps circled in red. Definitely bad, replace.
Caps circled in orange. Could be bad, replace.
Caps circled in yellow. Not visibly bad, but it would be a very good idea to replace them.

Re: ViewSonic VX2235wm...
Even with the flash, I can see at LEAST 4 bulged/domed caps. Since 4/9 failed (or almost 50% failure rate), we recommend replacing ALL the electrolytic capacitors except the largest one which rarely, but not never, fails.
PCBONEZ will
if I don't explain that when replacing caps, you want the same or more ripple and the same or less ESR (ohms) as per

by keepreadHi there!
Someone gave me their old monitor, it's Dell S2715ht.
The owner was using it when his PSU began to smell and then to smoke. It literally began to melt. He turned the monitor off, pulled the PSU, and ditched it because it was smelly even after it cooled. So I got the monitor but not the plug.
Now, I tried to bring the monitor back to life, by plugging one of my many Dell laptop PSUs. They are of the same 19.5V, and the wattage of the laptop PSU is higher than that which the monitor is rated for. Visually, the socket on the monitor seems compatible, and the plug plugs... -

by momakaLooking through my repair pictures and notes, it's been a long time since I posted anything in the LCD monitors section. So here goes that.

I'm dedicating this thread to one of the very first LCD monitors I repaired (if not the first one), which was more than 10 years ago now. The monitor is a Wise Wing, model F199. It's a 19” CFL-backlit LCD. I got it for free off of Craigslist in 2009 from a guy, who said he bought it for cheap from Wallmart and the monitor worked only for a little less than 2 years before quitting.
When I saw the Craigslist post, I wasn't...-
