If you don't have flux it's time to have some. It will last for lifetime.

Over the ofending 272 resistor only? Or over the whole set of resistors in thar area covered by that white glue?

      Thanks.

It worked for me as well it seems.

I didn't have an SMD resistor so i kludged a normal 1/4 watt trough hole instead then fixed it with hot snort.

        hope this reply could help.

I had the same issue as others in the thread, monitor would turn off and on randomly. I assumed it was a capacitor. I replaced the resistor as suggested in this thread, and it has been working like a champ since!
        So, thanks guys!

My monitor is having the same issue. while trying to replace chip resistor I messed up the board. Can I just remove the board all together from monitor as I dont use USB port anyways?.

My dell works again!! Removed that broken smd resistor. Didn’t have 2,7k resistor so now there is 1.2k and 1.5k trough hole resistors in series.

Used some hot glue to secure those resistors in place.

I fixed my 2007 WFP monitor by replacing the 2nd from the top resistor under the white silicon. It was a 10K resistor (01C) that was blown. Anyone having problems with this monitor should check all resistors and caps under the white silicon. Any one of them could be bad.

                  Re: Dell 2007WFP Constant On/Off

This was EXACTLY my problem. My 2.7k resistor was actually showing wandering resistance when measured - it kept changing!

I unsoldered it and tore the pad. I then traced the pcb traces and connected the resistor (only 2.2k) to the transistor and IC directly for better mechanical strength.

I tore off some of the excess heat sink tape between the power supply and chassis to add back in some thermal mass for those resistors to replace the removed glue.

So far, so good. I would have NEVER found that failed resistor. Thank you, everyone!

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                    by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.

                    Looking for Dell Latitude 5520 / 5530 / 5540 RJ45 network connector replacement
                    by diamon
I have a Dell Latitude 5530 with a damaged RJ45 network connector. See the attached pictures.

Have already searched on Farnell / Aliexpress / Ebay and had contact with several suppliers on Aliexpress and Ebay, but they cannot deliver this connector.
Is there someone inside the EU, who has these connector(s) or perhaps defective motherboard(s) for these laptop models I have mentioned in the topic title.

                    Dell 5410 greyed out BT
                    by OntarioTL
Well I've learned something new today. Of all the Dell laptops I've come across I have never seen bluetooth greyed out, and only to learn this is during the build from Dell factory. I've tried to pull the original BIOS and fix with another dell with the same issue on the forums, however the original was not recovered from the forum upgrade so I cannot do a comparison to attempt the fix on my own.

If someone could help me out with this unit and I'll try the next one as so far I have 2 on my desk with this issue. Thanks in advance!

Dell G5 SE 5505 - "Invalid memory installed" after BIOS update.
                    by lalle-
                    Hello!

I have a problem with a Dell G5 SE 5505 laptop that I hope someone can give me a few pointers on.
[OK, it's not really a laptop, I'm running the motherboard on my desktop with only cooling, RAM and an M2 drive attached.]
I had some performance issues, so I decided to update my BIOS from 1.7.0 to the latest version, 1.20.0.
The computer restarted and the update dit not want to continue without a battery connected, even though I used dell's method of bypassing this requirement.
I tried updating to a custom BIOS from Reddit user Satori_Nori https://www...

**Need Help Unlocking BIOS and Hard Drive on Dell Precision 5820 Tower**
                    by federalhouse
                    Hi everyone,

I'm in need of assistance with a Dell Precision 5820 Tower. The BIOS is locked with "Dell Security Manager," preventing access to the HDD-1 hard drive.

                    **Background:**

I recently purchased this Dell Precision 5820 Tower from a recycler who salvages equipment from abandoned office spaces. The computer was left behind by its previous owner and was password locked. Given that it can run Windows 11, I saw this as an opportunity to upgrade my setup.

                    **What I've Tried So Far:**

                    1. I accessed
