    You may have shorted rectifiers.
Don't buy those $10 PSU "specials". They fail, and they have taken whole computers with them.

check rectifiers out of circuit they are not shorted and show the correct voltage drop of about .406 V DC. I am under the assumption that this is the correct voltage drop for these?

These rectifiers are HERF1004G and HERF1004GA. However I can't find a replacement for them. Here is the datasheet that I have on them.

Tested the rectifiers, with the center legs out of circuit, and I get +45vdc and -45vdc out of them so I guess that means that the rectifiers are good and so the power supply FET's are good. When I hook the center legs up to the circuit that is when it goes into protect.

Check everything downstream of the 2 center pins.

I got a question regarding the designation of pin 1 on the circuit board. Is it usually a square shaped pad and the other are round or is that not standard?

I don't know. Maybe those are + and - terminals. Photo please? Thanks.

Re: HIFONICS ZXi 1008 car amp has output on one channel only

since this amp has two transformers one for each channel I have pulled all of the rectifiers and mosfets out of the one channel and all of the ouputs and driver transistors are out as well on both channels however it is still going into protect. Do I need to pull the transformer on the channel that all of the ouputs are not installed in to see if it will come out of protect, in effect having only one channel operational?

Found a DC offset on one of the speaker terminals how can I fix that? Goes from 1vdc to 3vdc before the protect circuit kicks in.

                  Thanks

Re: HIFONICS ZXi 1008 car amp has output on one channel only

The op amps tested OK, and I have found the reason for the offset and fixed it. The problem that I am having now has to do with the audio signal going from the op amps outputs into the current voltage gain stage. I don't understand where the signal is entering that stage. If anyone could help me with that it would be greatly appreciated.

                    Thanks
