Logitech X-240 Static in Right Channel

    Hello,

I have an old Logitech X-240 that I do not really want to get rid of, but it has a ton of static coming out of the Right Channel when idle. It can be drowned out when there is music playing through it, but I had a problem where the static was too much that the music could not be heard through the right at all.

I am not sure what type of components to check, as all of the resistors, capacitors and the fuses look solid. Would it be the audio chip, or the odd black chip that looks like a 555 timer that is at fault?

    Any ideas?

If you have ruled out the chance of bad speakers. I'll start by looking for and reflow any suspicious joints. Then I'll try reflowing the big output ICs then reflow the smaller ones and try playing. If that doesn't help I would try replacing those smaller Electrolytics then go at the bigger ones.

If both output ICs are the SAME, swap them and see if the symptom swaps too.

Those small 8-pin IC are dual op-amp. So do as JTS suggested.
What are the P/N of those two power amp ICs?
