    PARASOUND P3 Pre-amp reapair

Notes: typo on the 'reapair' sorry.
Got this one in for repair, the owner said it makes spatter distorted sound when the audio is applied to the any inputs and does not matter if the volume is up or down.
I found that the +/- 30V power supply are not balanced, the +VCC is about 5V lower than -VCC, these are supplies for OPAMPs.
Inspect the board and found that the center tap pin of the dual supplies was never soldered to the board, there was no solder applied.
Soldered it and the voltages are reading fine now but the distorted sound is still present, I did more research on the non-opamp IC (there are two 16-pin ICs, one is for Volume control, and another one is for Tone control) so I can get the pin out for the voltages feeding the ICs, I was suspecting the Volume control IC since turning the Volume control knobs has no effect on the level of the distorted sound. The -VCC is showing -12V, but the +VCC is showing <1V, check the resistance reading on the +VCC and it shows < 5 Ohms. The +/-VCC pins are fed through 100 Ohms resistors and small lytics cap for filtering. Removed the filter caps and it still shows <5 Ohms, so I cut the +VCC pin then the 5 Ohms reading went away. check the +VCC pin and GND pin of the IC off the board and it shows <5 Ohms. Luckily I still some of these Toshiba ICs in stock, now it is running, it sounds pretty good.

    Re: PARASOUND P3 Pre-amp reapair

Thanks for the pics and documenting the repair.

The only thing I remember about this brand when I was "into" audio was it was spelled Para$ound.

While the repair is indeed commendable, i can't help but facepalm at the Black Gates and the Gold Tunes...

No wonder it was spelled Para$$$ound

        Epson EB-U42 projector / Caps with 0.7 ohms ?!
        by narf
        hi all,

first of all: i'm a (motivated) newbie, so please forgive me any stupid question i may or may not ask

i'm currently repairing a projector: Epson EB-U42 that doesn't start (no lights, nothing).

        what i've found so far:
        - the PSU does its job and supplies 12V to the mainboard via the connector.
        - shortly thereafter, there is a mosfet (TS420-600B) where i can test 12V on the one side (in the data sheet this side is called Anode), Gate 0V, Kathode shorted to ground
        - not far away, there's the first cap with a resistance of 0.7 ohms....

Yamaha MOX8 boot freeze and distorted sound
        by maleksa
My Yamaha MOX8 synthesizer recently developed two issues.

Firstly, after booting up, it operates as normal. However, after about 5 minutes, the sound starts to get distorted (broken up screeching sound) almost like putting it through a guitar distortion pedal. After a while, the distorted sounds will go away for a while and comes back. At times, the synthesizer will also freeze I need to power off and on again.

Secondly, when powering off and on again, there will be times where the synthesizer will freeze during the boot sequence (freezes at the MOX8 Opening Screen),...

Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB (Chassis SR) TV Repair Help - Distorted Subwoofer Sound and overall weird sound waveforms
        by LEECH666
        Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

Need help to identify and to locate a 0.33 ohms fusible resistor for power supply
        by gica69
I have a quad charger that is split into 4 separate sections and one section doesn’t charge anymore. I have located what I think is a thermistor and on the shrink tube it says 125 degrees C. I cut the shrink tube and it's a 33 ohms resistor. It measures a little less than 1/2 inch in length. I am including pictures of it. Please help me identify it. So, it should test at 0.4ohms and probably go up in resistance with the rise in temp. On the board it clearly says R for resistor. But it has to be a special one.
Resistor shows orange range silver gold and green lines.
        Thanks in adv...

Philips 65PUS8518/12 distorted image after main board replacement
        by tuner2000i
        hello everyone,

I don't normally do tv repairs but this is a case with my personal TV which got fried together with many other electronics in my house after a thunderstorm.

The TV is a Philips 65PUS8518/12 which had no power. I measured and concluded that the main board was probably fried through ethernet or hdmi. I found a board with same number 715GD328-M0F-B00-005Y (I had G) but from a 55PUS8518. The TV starts but the image is doubled, distorted. I need to set the panel code which is 016 according to the sticker on the back but I can not seem to do it.
