Connect pc speakers to tv without 3.5 jack

Currently trying to connect pc speakers to 2015 vizio tv, tv has no 3.5 headphone jack. Does have rca audio out, tried connecting thru a Y rca to 3.5 cable but getting odd results(probably just need a dac for decent audio, not sure?) not too educated on audio. With that hookup I'm getting 2 problems, can't get the speakers to increase in volume so it's very low even when turned up and when using both tv and pc speakers the pc speakers only put out the music part of the broadcast and not the vocals/talk of the program. Have you run into this before or know what it might be, Thanks.

That depends how your adapter is wired
    It can be either
    Tip - audio L (white)
    Ring1 - audio R (red)
    Ring2 - video (yellow)
    Sleeve - GND

    Or
    Tip - audio L (white)
    Ring1 - audio R (red)
    Ring2 - GND
    Sleeve - video (yellow)

Can't trust this type of adapter/cable without measuring with multimeter, same issue with old camcorders and some other devices which use a similar cable (4 pole 3.5mm to 3 RCA), depends on manufacturer which pinout they used...

You can try thIS, short the tip and sleeve on the yellow RCA plug with a piece of wire , that way you're getting the GND connected

This type of adapter should work

Tried with tv speakers set to on and off also with speakers set to both fixed and variable, same results.

rca/scart outputs are not amplified - you need to add a small amplifier.

Yep. The audio level is different and is not adjustable.

So a dac won't work for this? Which kind of small amp, can you link an example, Thanks for replies.

There's also S/PDIF Digital Optical audio to analog RCA converters, plenty available on Amazon/ebay, if your TV has optical audio output
Assuming your PC speakers are powered either by USB or mains power (have an internal amplifier, with a volume control) the RCA to 3.5mm adapter should have worked

You may hear a similar effect to what you describe if for some reason the GND is not making proper contact (only the L and R signals), the wire is internally broken, or when the 3.5mm plug is not fully inserted into the jack

Check the wiring on your adapter with multimeter, or make your own, like this:

I'm trying with these Cambridge SoundWorks Creative GCS300 Computer Speakers, it says 300 w in one ad but 5 w in another so not sure. Plugs into outlet and has volume control and power on/off button.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/17737459809...DKT7M52K50KGQG Ok, have a dac adapter ordered, hope it works or at least gives a little better sound. Had same issue with 2 sets of speakers guess they are ok. Only have the one Y adapter, will try checking the Y and connections. Thanks for help and for the illustration of adapter.

I checked continuity, here's what I have, not sure the terms so I'll call the tip 1 and the next 2 and 3 and 4: so tip-inside white: 2-inside yellow: 3-red, white, yellow: 4-inside red. I had red and white thinking that yellow was for video but might be wrong. You think it would blow something if I tried different combos like yellow and red or yellow and white? Thanks.

To add to the confusion, more pinouts, all incompatible with each other
                            https://pinoutguide.com/Audio-Video-...k_pinout.shtml

Assuming tip is 1, then your cable is wired as Sony/Panasonic pinout from that list, so tip is white, 2 is yellow, 3 is GND, 4 is red
Use the yellow RCA plug as your right audio channel (red), then short the red RCA plug from that adapter

More examples of the confusing non standard pinouts
                            https://pinoutguide.com/Audio-Video-...t_pinout.shtml
                            https://pinoutguide.com/HeadsetsHead...i_pinout.shtml

                            This video explains it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUcx_RrRS7U
Best to make your own adapter with a 3 pole 3.5mm jack, or buy the appropriate one

The normal laptop speakers work fine. Anyone has an idea what it might be? Did a full reinstall of windows, still nothing.

The patient this time: a pair of Philips F9217L-50R speakers from a budget Philips rack/component system from the '80's. The system belongs to my brother in-law… or actually his parents. However, they didn't want it when they moved houses and he liked it anyways, so he ended up keeping it. It's a pretty cool-looking vintage system with a wood/veneer cabinet and shelves for records and cassettes. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it or get the model #'s (but maybe next time I visit, if anyone is curious?)

Samsung UN55FH6030CXZA main board, BN41-01894, bad USB jack. Jack is mangled and needs replacing with like. Jack is marked "Simula" with the number 130318. Search for Simula turns up a weak looking website of a company that seems/seemed to supply USB jacks and other USB technology but no current items turn up for sale.

I should be able to research and find something applicable through a Digi-Key search after I unsolder/cut out this one and measure the mounting/pin connection pattern on the board but I thought I'd ask here to see if anybody knows of an exact make/model...
