Currently trying to connect pc speakers to 2015 vizio tv, tv has no 3.5 headphone jack. Does have rca audio out, tried connecting thru a Y rca to 3.5 cable but getting odd results(probably just need a dac for decent audio, not sure?) not too educated on audio. With that hookup I'm getting 2 problems, can't get the speakers to increase in volume so it's very low even when turned up and when using both tv and pc speakers the pc speakers only put out the music part of the broadcast and not the vocals/talk of the program. Have you run into this before or know what it might be, Thanks.

Tried with tv speakers set to on and off also with speakers set to both fixed and variable, same results. -
rca/scart outputs are not amplified - you need to add a small amplifier.

There's also S/PDIF Digital Optical audio to analog RCA converters, plenty available on Amazon/ebay, if your TV has optical audio output
Assuming your PC speakers are powered either by USB or mains power (have an internal amplifier, with a volume control) the RCA to 3.5mm adapter should have worked
You may hear a similar effect to what you describe if for some reason the GND is not making proper contact (only the L and R signals), the wire is internally broken, or when the 3.5mm plug is not fully inserted into the jack
Check the wiring on your adapter with multimeter, or make your own, like this:

More Lo-Fi speakers and another DIY surround repair.
The patient this time: a pair of Philips F9217L-50R speakers from a budget Philips rack/component system from the '80's. The system belongs to my brother in-law… or actually his parents. However, they didn't want it when they moved houses and he liked it anyways, so he ended up keeping it. It's a pretty cool-looking vintage system with a wood/veneer cabinet and shelves for records and cassettes. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it or get the model #'s (but maybe next time I visit, if anyone is curious?)

Samsung UN55FH6030CXZA main board, BN41-01894, bad USB jack. Jack is mangled and needs replacing with like. Jack is marked "Simula" with the number 130318. Search for Simula turns up a weak looking website of a company that seems/seemed to supply USB jacks and other USB technology but no current items turn up for sale.
I should be able to research and find something applicable through a Digi-Key search after I unsolder/cut out this one and measure the mounting/pin connection pattern on the board but I thought I'd ask here to see if anybody knows of an exact make/model...01-23-2025, 11:17 AM -
