    Re: Pioneer VSX-1022K won't turn on(VSX-1122K)

I have picked up a VSX-1122k with the same symptoms.
The standby board looks completely different, most likely has a switching power supply.
It's marked primary, I measure 164V at the main capacitor.
The relay, doesn't click at all. I will remove it and I will apply voltage to it.
I don't have a SM for this receiver, I don't know how to hard reset it.
Soft reset, seems to be Enter+Stndy/On. Seen it on Youtube. This reset or any other combination, did not do anything.

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on

I have a VSX-D2011. Hard switch turns on the standby LED for just a couple of seconds. Sometimes longer about 2 minutes. During those time that the standby light is on I can switch on the receiver with all displays normal and relays click normally. Did diagnostics as per SM and everything passed, and suddenly turns itself off again. have to wait couple of minutes before I can get a standby light again. Suspected capacitor. Any suggestion where to look first? Primary Board? Regulator Board? or Controller. Thanks

No problem, it will just make it less confuse when someone search for the VSX-D2011 repair guide.

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on

wow, what an interesting thread! I just randomly picked up a vsx-1022 at a garage sale with a similar issue. Although, mine gets the first relay click then shuts off in 5 secs maybe.

I can do both tests mentioned.
standby+alc: reports "clear?", after i press enter it says "OK" then powers off
standby+preset left: reports "DC: 000" then powers off

I just downloaded the service manual and am about to dive in...

and btw, I have hit this forum several times in searches but just signed up, I can't believe I waited so long!

Update- if I can enter service mode and quickly press enter enough times after receiving "DC: 000", I eventually find an overload condition "OVER: 007" which keeps incrementing as I turn the unit on and off... but, the unit always turns off no matter what mode I enter.

I'm not an expert, but DC probably means that you have a short at one of the amps.
Check for short, test all the final transistors. If you find a channel, with both shorted transistors, just clip there legs and it will turn on. You may have to reset the receiver, after all this to clear the error.

yep! sure enough, it was a bad D2390/B1560 pair on the final amp assembly. dead short at collector to emitter on both of them. The resistors look ok, but I will unsolder and test them as well. Good news for others with this problem--you can get these transistors for cheap on ebay.
I have not fired up the soldering iron yet, but will later this week. Hopefully this is the only problem with this unit.

I wouldn't trust those transistors. I was told the same thing, from the experienced repairmen, from this forum.
You should buy them from Digikey, they are around $3-5. You can chose, first class mail, which is less then $4 and you can have it, in two-three days.
Check out all the components, on that channel, there maybe other components that have failed.

Still have not received the ebay ones, but after your post I looked up the seller and indeed a few people in other forums had him listed as selling some counterfeit parts. Not worth taking a chance on making the problem worse...
I had never heard of sanken transistors before and was almost positive digikey would not have them, but I was wrong!

Have heard stories of people getting a package with an empty die or worse yet, dead short... I ordered from digikey as well and they came in 2 days. I changed them out and no more fault! Looks fully operational and it might be fixed now. I'm going to hook it up to some speakers this weekend.

You can use NTE transistors too. I have picked them up from Fry's Electronics(I don't know if you have that store in your area).

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on

Well... I hooked it up to some old school fisher 8 ohm speakers i have... hooked up on the B speaker system. It works until I turn the volume up too loud then it turns off. Sound Quality is good. I tried to check for another code, but for some reason, now I cannot enter or clear diagnostics... bizarre. The 2 key combinations don't work anymore when the unit is either on or off. If I leave it at a comfortable room level, it will play just fine. Guess I have some more work to do. Although, I did not use a perfect line level input. I just used my sgs4 out going into the CD input. Will try again with a line level device. Not the kind of test I can do at night with the little one sleeping :-(

We don't have a Fry's locally here, but I've been to one in Atlanta and one the last time I was in CA. Probably a good thing we don't have one, I'd be broke...
                                :-)

I have not checked any currents so far when its live.

idle current is way out of spec on the channel with the new transistors... test pt's should be steady at 2.0+-0.2 mV. I'm getting 100-130mV with some oscillation on the affected channel, but the rest of them are close. This was off by so much I did not bother to turn the POT. Time to start checking some more parts. I have not yet removed the entire heat sink, think its better to remove all power transistor screws, or bend all the transistors for access to the underside of the board?

I always take the hole thing apart and check all the components, at the bad channel.
Then, I assemble everything and set the idle current.

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on

I am having a similar issue and looking for some insight. After reading this forum, some others elsewhere, and looking at the manual, here is what I have tried.
Standby + Advanced Surround: receiver turns on, then 5 seconds later, turns off. During the 5 seconds that it is on, the display appears normal, but shuts off. Service and Reset Mode do not work.
                                      Here is the interesting part.
After some trial and error I found that by using Standby + Surround to turn it on and then immediately rotating the Input Selector Dial (or the Master Volume dial) at a constant, but not fast, rate; I get a second click and the unit stays on and functions normally (as far as I can tell). If I rotate the Input Selector Dial too quickly, it still turns off after 5 seconds.
Once it is on and functioning normally, I can turn it off, and back on without problem. As long as I turn it back on in about 10 minutes or less, then it powers on correctly.
If I wait as long as 20 minutes the next time I attempt to power on, it reverts back to only staying on for 5 seconds or so, requiring me to repeat the Standby + Advanced Surround and Input selector Dial rotating-trick.
Since I could get the unit to turn on and off, I was able to enter service mode and found code DC012. All others are 000.
Next I used Reset Mode to clear the numbers.
Then I turned it off, waited 20 min, turned it on…. And again it shut off in 5 min…
This time, I get code DC001.
I continue to reset to 000 for all, but if I leave it off for >10 minutes, it goes back to DC001. Everytime.
I have not had a chance yet to disassemble and dive in, but I was hoping that you might be able to offer some insight as to the possible problem given the fact that the unit will turn on and function properly if I rotate the Input Selector Dial or Master Volume dial after powering on. And the fact that remaining off for more than 10 minutes causes the original problem to recur.

                                      Any insight would be appreciated.

DC is most likely shorted amp channel.(DC offset error)

Thanks, I'll get back on here and let you guys know what I find when I get into it. I thought that it was interesting that I can somehow override or bypass the problem to make the system work, but I also know very little about this stuff, so maybe it isn't uncommon. This is my first time doing anything like this, and I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Hi guys, I’m back here my friend give me her tv, that doesn’t turn on and no standby red led. When u plug in the cord the red led of one two second is on, then turn off. If you push the power button or the remote the red led blinks but nothing happen. I give u some photo with voltage, don’t look the fuse….because I blow it for mistake nd I dint have the right replace so I just put it for test the tv. The standby voltage should be 11,88 volt on the diode, but I have 13 volts. I put in the photo the different volts I test and there are someone negative…I don’t know if it s normal. On...

                                            Greetings!

Thank you in advance for your understanding, I am writing to you through a translator.

A Harman Kardon AVR171S amplifier was given.

The history of the machine is as follows:
It was faulty when I bought it, I want to fix it.
I replaced the HDMI switch and one of the DAC ICs in it.
After that it worked without a problem.

I watched a movie using the amplifier, and at the end the amplifier got really hot.
The cooling was faulty, I will fix this later.
I switched it to standby mode, waited for...

                                            Pioneer VSX-44 receiver HDMI dropouts

I have an older Pioneer receiver (VSX-44) that's been dropping the HDMI output (black screen) for a few seconds every few minutes. Setup is HTPC -> Pioneer DVD HCMI in -> Pioneer HDMI out -> Samsung TV HDMI in, all with cheap HDMI cables that have never caused trouble before..

I initially found a lot of play in the receiver's HDMI inputs and output so I kind of squeezed them back into shape and they're making a tighter connection, but the problem persists.

And also, often, the HDMI will drop out in exactly the same way (black screen) just as my central air...

Hello, i have some issues with my laptop Lenovo Y700-17ISK (motherboard BY511 NM-A541), it started when i turn on the laptop, but the lcd wont turn on, i then connected it via hdmi to tv and screen was ok. So i thought maybe lcd stripe is faulty, i removed the bottom cover, disconnected main battery, reset the cmos by disconnecting battery for 1 min, then slighty move the lcd stripe. Conncted power supply and tuned on my laptop, the lcd turn on, it started to load os, then it turn off, after a second it turn on, then after like 3 seconds turn off again, and so on. Removed power supply, waited...

Samsung LN32B540 - won’t turn on but gets standby power
                                            by Doodle43
My Samsung LN32B540 never turned back on after I had to turn off the power at the mains at house. It won't turn on, but the red standby led lights up when it is plugged in. If I hold down the power on the remote, the standby light turns off which I think means it is trying to turn on, but there's no sound or backlight. If I try to turn it on/off from the power button on the TV instead, it doesn't do anything at all.

It was plugged into a surge suppressor and was off (on standby) when I turned off the power,, so I don't know if it got a power surge or was on its way out anyway. I...
