Samsung LN32B540 - won’t turn on but gets standby power

My Samsung LN32B540 never turned back on after I had to turn off the power at the mains at house. It won't turn on, but the red standby led lights up when it is plugged in. If I hold down the power on the remote, the standby light turns off which I think means it is trying to turn on, but there's no sound or backlight. If I try to turn it on/off from the power button on the TV instead, it doesn't do anything at all.

It was plugged into a surge suppressor and was off (on standby) when I turned off the power,, so I don't know if it got a power surge or was on its way out anyway. I opened it up to have a look, and I see at least one bad capacitor (a 1200uf 25v). Is that enough to have caused this issue? I don't have a multimeter or know how to solder, but I am willing to learn if that's all I need to do to fix it. Pics attached.

Yes it could be the only problem, only way to know is replace it, go with low esr 1200uf and 35 or 50 on the voltage for replacement, youtube has the how to videos.

One reason why I never leave my TV set on standby when not in use and always switch off at the mains socket. In standby some of the circuitry is still running (low power) and the capacitors tend to dry up over time. Your post is a good example of this issue.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Is it possible the others have dried up as well and I'll need to replace those? Or just the visibly swollen one?

I would replace the 1200µf/35v cap, and also CP809, CM804 and CM808, these 3 caps in the primary can dry out and look ok.

+10, and there's this for turning it off when you're just too dead tired to get up: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078J2WDL4...erz_origin3-20

Samsung UN65MU8000FXZA Dead NO power NO standby light won't turn on
              by rgla
Hi. First time post. I've scoured the previous forums looking for info - there isn't much for my model
              UN65MU8000FXZA

We had a power outage. Everything plugged into the Monster surge protector seems to be fine except my Samsung TV. It was dead when the power came back to the house.

              Here's what I've looked at:
Unplugged main board from power supply - BACKLIGHTS COME ON.

Ordered new main board - still didn't work. Not sure if used MB was DOA

              MAIN BOARD = BN94-12295K
              PSB= BN44-00912 L65E8NR_MHS

              There...

TV Samsung UE40MU6405U, not standby (after power failure)
              by Espartaco Smith
Hello, as I mentioned in the title, I have a Samsung TV at home, model UE40MU6405U, which is about 5 or 6 years old.

After a power company failure, the TV stopped turning on and even the standby light wouldn't come on. Over a period of about 10 seconds, the electricity kept going off and on repeatedly, and the TV died.

The power supply is: L40E6_KSM (BN44-00875A)
              The main board: BN41-02568B

The power supply board seems to be fine. All the voltages are present. If I disconnect it from the main board, I get backlight.

              I've also checked the...

Samsung UN58J5190 - Doesn't Power on and has Standby
              by Chris24
Hey everyone - I have a Samsung UN58J5190 with these symptoms: Does not power on, has standby light, standby light blinks 5 times after pressing "power on." When plugged in the power supply is making a very faint ticking sound, and this goes away when pressing power on.

Following instructions from the great team here in recent posts for Samsung with similar symptoms, I did the following tests:

I tested with mainboard disconnected from power supply - backlights do not come on (symptoms no change/5 red blinks)

              I tested with T-Con disconnected...

Samsung UE50NU7090U , no power , no led standby
              by amennone
By inserting power, on the diodes DM856...Dm859, there are 9 volts, when you press the power button the voltage is 12 volts, voltage present for a few seconds, then returns to 9 volts
The power LED remains off, always.
              Reprogrammed Ic 503 = 25Q40 and IC 501 = 25Q80, downloaded from the site
              The situation remained the same

un60j620dafxza - Samsung No Display Problem
              by stylishconsultant
              Hi All,

              Need help.

I have a samsung un60j620dafxza led tv. When I plug it in it has no display, no sounds, and no standby lights.

So I opened the tv and disconnected the power to the mainboard and the backlight powered up. This according to many people says that this is a mainboard
problem. I checked the voltage coming from the stb and I read 1.3 volts on pins 1,3,5 and 7 which are low volts instead of 13 volts which i think the lcd panel
might be drawing too much power from the power supply that it prevents the right voltage going to the mainboard....
