Where should I look for the ripple? I have a Fluke 87V and a Rigol 1052E scope with the 100MHz hack(though I don't know how to use it).
Budm, mentioned about this in one of his threads, that he was checking the capacitors in one of the monitors and the ones that was showing some frequency were bad.
I have placed a bid, $40 with shipping. I have $90 in this receiver, I don't want to invest to much in it.

Yes, I think so, only 7 hours left.
I cant find any data for the relay, only units for sale.
143 ohms sounds about right for the coil. Its stating look like receiver has an unlikely fault like an open bridge diode. I see this quickly by looking at the ripple frequency with my DSO or frequency range on my Fluke DMM.
From your readings, the coil is being applied with 4v. If its a 6v coil, it needs at least 5v to pull in.

It's to late now to check the voltage, I will do these tomorrow.
I was wondering, how could I check the relay if it's good or not?
This is the Ebay receiver that I have told you about.
Do you think that I should get it?

This has become a big puzzle.
What does the voltage on the supply side of R326 drop to?
You could also try giving the relay a knock with a screwdriver handle while STBY_RLY line is high. This might make the relay pull in.
As a last resort, bridge out R326 but the real reason needs to be found.

    The resistor is good.
Zenner diode removal, didn't do anything and it's good too.

Yes, Im hoping that the zenner is faulty causing too much current to be bypassed arround the coil. If the relay does work, dont leave it on for more than a few minutes, it might overheat without the zenner.

I will have to check that resistor. Ones, I have went through all the parts and they all checked out good.
I haven't removed the zenner. Should I try turning on, without it?

Q303 signals to the micro that the mains power has been turned off for some reason like a blackout or simply turned off at the outlet. The micro then saves all current settings like Volume and also turns off the speaker relays so the speakers dont thump.
    Is R326 ok?
Did you try removing the zenner from across the coil?

I have replaced the 2200uF capacitor and it did not help.
OK, I have checked everything again.
At the coil(top part, away from the transistor) is 10.4V in stby and 4.64V after reset.
At the coil connection(transistor Collector) is 10.4V in STBY and 0.6V after reset.
R319 toward the CPU, after reset is 3.1V and at the other end is 0.75V.
Q301 Base is 0.06V, Collector is 10.4V and Emitter os 0V in STBY.
Base is 0.75V, Collector is 0.061V and Emitter is 0V after reset.
What Q303 does? What is PDN?
We have checked the protection modes, if they are turned on or not?
I feel bad about this, that I'm not letting it go. Maybe I should pick up another one and compare them.
There is on on Ebay without HDMI board and amp section, should I pick it up? The problem is that I don't know, what issues has that one also. Maybe bad HDMI board and everything else is good?
I appreciate your help a lot. It seems that only you are helping me in this forum section.

I will replace that capacitor. I know at TVs a bad capacitor can bring down the whole TV.
What would happen, if we were closing the contacts of the relay?
If the micro realizes that its not in control of the relay, it might decide to do nothing else.
The timing has to be close to right.

Those voltages still dont add up right. Replace C301 if nothing else works.
I think the relay has a 6 volt coil.
We might have reached a dead end.

Q303 is fitted. Voltages are very low, 0.6V, 0.013V, 0V. Doesn't change much, after reset.
These readings dont agree with previous readings. You said the voltage at the coil drops from 10.5v to 9.6v.

If R326 checks ok, try removing the zenner.

Yes, if it can be done safely. Did you ever check the voltage change on Q301's Collector?

I will have to check on the other transistor, I don't remember right now if it's there or not.
It's clear that Q303 is not getting the signal to turn on the relay.
It shouldn't turn on the relay when I reset the receiver? That 0.74V it's not enough to turn on the transistor?
How can I check the relay, if it's good? It has 143 Ohm at the coil.
I expect that the relay should be turning on when the receiver is reset. That is the reason the STBY_RLY line is going high for a few seconds.
Q301's Collector should go from 10.5v to something less than 0.5v.
Its the voltage that is applied across the coil that matters.

Hi guys, I’m back here my friend give me her tv, that doesn’t turn on and no standby red led. When u plug in the cord the red led of one two second is on, then turn off. If you push the power button or the remote the red led blinks but nothing happen. I give u some photo with voltage, don’t look the fuse….because I blow it for mistake nd I dint have the right replace so I just put it for test the tv. The standby voltage should be 11,88 volt on the diode, but I have 13 volts. I put in the photo the different volts I test and there are someone negative…I don’t know if it s normal. On...

Harman Kardon AVR 171S - standby led lights up, does not turn on
    by madsox
    Greetings!

Thank you in advance for your understanding, I am writing to you through a translator.

A Harman Kardon AVR171S amplifier was given.

The history of the machine is as follows:
It was faulty when I bought it, I want to fix it.
I replaced the HDMI switch and one of the DAC ICs in it.
After that it worked without a problem.

I watched a movie using the amplifier, and at the end the amplifier got really hot.
The cooling was faulty, I will fix this later.
I switched it to standby mode, waited for...

    Pioneer VSX-44 receiver HDMI dropouts
    by RatherLoopy
I have an older Pioneer receiver (VSX-44) that's been dropping the HDMI output (black screen) for a few seconds every few minutes. Setup is HTPC -> Pioneer DVD HCMI in -> Pioneer HDMI out -> Samsung TV HDMI in, all with cheap HDMI cables that have never caused trouble before..

I initially found a lot of play in the receiver's HDMI inputs and output so I kind of squeezed them back into shape and they're making a tighter connection, but the problem persists.

And also, often, the HDMI will drop out in exactly the same way (black screen) just as my central air...

Lenovo Y700-17ISK turn on and off
    by pajdek
Hello, i have some issues with my laptop Lenovo Y700-17ISK (motherboard BY511 NM-A541), it started when i turn on the laptop, but the lcd wont turn on, i then connected it via hdmi to tv and screen was ok. So i thought maybe lcd stripe is faulty, i removed the bottom cover, disconnected main battery, reset the cmos by disconnecting battery for 1 min, then slighty move the lcd stripe. Conncted power supply and tuned on my laptop, the lcd turn on, it started to load os, then it turn off, after a second it turn on, then after like 3 seconds turn off again, and so on. Removed power supply, waited...

Samsung LN32B540 - won’t turn on but gets standby power
    by Doodle43
My Samsung LN32B540 never turned back on after I had to turn off the power at the mains at house. It won't turn on, but the red standby led lights up when it is plugged in. If I hold down the power on the remote, the standby light turns off which I think means it is trying to turn on, but there's no sound or backlight. If I try to turn it on/off from the power button on the TV instead, it doesn't do anything at all.

It was plugged into a surge suppressor and was off (on standby) when I turned off the power,, so I don't know if it got a power surge or was on its way out anyway. I...
