Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on
The zenner is a glass type and it is removed.

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on
It means there is still current flow through the transistor.
With no relay and zenner in circuit, it only leaves those two diodes in series that might be leaky. Both would have to fail to cause a problem, unlikely.
Actually most of the small glass diodes and zenners I find faulty is because the leads have rusted and cracked the glass body.
Had you removed the zenner from across the relay coil?Leave a comment:

What that means if it's not the same?Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on
The voltages on each side of the resistor should be the same after a reset while the relay and zenner are removed.Leave a comment:

Are those readings while the relay is still removed from the PCB?Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on
Just plugged in, it shows 10.34V.
As I push the power button it shows 9.57V.
After reset toward the coil it shows 6.45V and the other side of the resistor shows 9.57V.Leave a comment:

I would still like to know that voltage reading if you can, even without the relay fitted.Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on
I have cut it open already.
I have ordered a new one, it's a special order item, it may take a couple of days to arrive.
Actually, I have tried with 12V and I may have left it a bit to much, because I have noticed some smoke came out of it. The coil it was still fine, still showing the 143 Ohm.Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on
Try to "wake up" the relay with 12v. If it clicks at 12v try again with 6v. Might work.Leave a comment:

It seems that the relay is faulty. I would also like to make better sense of the voltages.Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on
I haven't tested that yet. I have just removed the relay for testing. I have placed a 6V supply on the coil and didn't hear any click and I removed it.
I did hit it as you suggested, but it didn't happen anything.Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on
Thank you for your help. I have made a mistake, by not testing the switch with an ohm meter. I have just applied 6V(coil has a 6V rating) and I didn't hear the click.
I have ordered a new one from partstore.com. It was $3.56 with free shipping.
I have cut it open and it seemed like the moving coil contact didn't move freely.
Now I will have to wait until they order one and arrives.
I will let you guys know how it went.
Rievax, you get a well deserved brake for now. Thank you again, for your prompt help. Let's hope that this relay is the culprit.
The parts has to arrive for the Yamaha, need to go back to that, today or tomorrow.
I guess, if everything is soldered well back together, everything should work, right?
I will eed to go v=back to a 46" Sony TV too. I'm having a hard time figuring out the problem with that too. I have repaired the same TV very fast, but this one it's the same as this Pioneer. Won't give up easily.Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on
I had a similar problem with a Pioneer 822 (same standby board as the 1022), turned out the relay is the culprit.
Relay read good via ohmmeter but was stuck in the OFF position. Unit won't power up even if the CPU sends "power on" signals to the relay driver. I used an external 12vdc supply to verify whether RLY301 is frozen or not. +12V to pin 4, ground to pin 3 of RLY301.
If you don't feel at ease with that method you can remove the relay from the board before testing.Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on
Initially it gets 5.3V and then it drops to 4.5V.
I didn't win that receiver. It ended while I was asleep.
Why should I use 12V and where would I apply that voltage?Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on
Try powering up the relay with a different 12v supply. If it doesn't click it's defective. But before you do so REMOVE THE CONNECTOR THAT GOES TO THE MAIN TRANSFORMER.Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on
I found the specs for the relay. It does have a 6v coil. The resistance is correct at 144ohms. It needs up to 4.5v to pull in. Did you remove the zenner across the coil?, ZD303.

Re: Pioneer VSX-1022-K won't turn on
Where should I look for the ripple? I have a Fluke 87V and a Rigol 1052E scope with the 100MHz hack(though I don't know how to use it).
Budm, mentioned about this in one of his threads, that he was checking the capacitors in one of the monitors and the ones that was showing some frequency were bad.
I have placed a bid, $40 with shipping. I have $90 in this receiver, I don't want to invest to much in it.
The ripple should be 120Hz with all diodes working.
Try to remember my other suggestions also.Leave a comment:

by PNI E.Hi guys, I’m back here my friend give me her tv, that doesn’t turn on and no standby red led. When u plug in the cord the red led of one two second is on, then turn off. If you push the power button or the remote the red led blinks but nothing happen. I give u some photo with voltage, don’t look the fuse….because I blow it for mistake nd I dint have the right replace so I just put it for test the tv. The standby voltage should be 11,88 volt on the diode, but I have 13 volts. I put in the photo the different volts I test and there are someone negative…I don’t know if it s normal. On...

by madsoxGreetings!
Thank you in advance for your understanding, I am writing to you through a translator.
A Harman Kardon AVR171S amplifier was given.
The history of the machine is as follows:
It was faulty when I bought it, I want to fix it.
I replaced the HDMI switch and one of the DAC ICs in it.
After that it worked without a problem.
I watched a movie using the amplifier, and at the end the amplifier got really hot.
The cooling was faulty, I will fix this later.
I switched it to standby mode, waited for...-

by RatherLoopyI have an older Pioneer receiver (VSX-44) that's been dropping the HDMI output (black screen) for a few seconds every few minutes. Setup is HTPC -> Pioneer DVD HCMI in -> Pioneer HDMI out -> Samsung TV HDMI in, all with cheap HDMI cables that have never caused trouble before..
I initially found a lot of play in the receiver's HDMI inputs and output so I kind of squeezed them back into shape and they're making a tighter connection, but the problem persists.
And also, often, the HDMI will drop out in exactly the same way (black screen) just as my central air...-

by pajdekHello, i have some issues with my laptop Lenovo Y700-17ISK (motherboard BY511 NM-A541), it started when i turn on the laptop, but the lcd wont turn on, i then connected it via hdmi to tv and screen was ok. So i thought maybe lcd stripe is faulty, i removed the bottom cover, disconnected main battery, reset the cmos by disconnecting battery for 1 min, then slighty move the lcd stripe. Conncted power supply and tuned on my laptop, the lcd turn on, it started to load os, then it turn off, after a second it turn on, then after like 3 seconds turn off again, and so on. Removed power supply, waited...

by Doodle43My Samsung LN32B540 never turned back on after I had to turn off the power at the mains at house. It won't turn on, but the red standby led lights up when it is plugged in. If I hold down the power on the remote, the standby light turns off which I think means it is trying to turn on, but there's no sound or backlight. If I try to turn it on/off from the power button on the TV instead, it doesn't do anything at all.
It was plugged into a surge suppressor and was off (on standby) when I turned off the power,, so I don't know if it got a power surge or was on its way out anyway. I... - Loading...
