    Philips CDM4-mechanism

Two totally different cd-players, but the mechanism was almost plug and play, only needed to change the connector for the spin motor. Technics SL-PJ28A -> Marantz CD-40.
Note: SL-PJ28A is more different with identical looking SL-PJ28 than the Marantz...

Is there any adjustment, sometimes it skips a bit when "cold" while playing CD-R's. No skips when it has been on for a couple of minutes.

Where's that cap? I got the player as it would not play to the end, and made some clonking sounds. I can still hear those occasionally.

Changed the cap to 22u (which the old one was), but first it went only worse. The original cap had 6% Vloss. Then I changed to 47u which was in the service manual, it seem to work better.

It was the clamp. I managed to move the fault to another identical Technics, only by moving the clamp. It had a dip in the middle of the small plastic thing which should be smooth.

[Marantz SR5012] Center channel keeps going into ASO/Overcurrent protection.
                by acedogblast
First off I would like to thank this community as it has provided me with great information that has helped me greatly on my repair for this Marantz SR5012 AV receiver. I am creating this new thread as the other 2 that I have created here has had their original question/problem solved and I plan that this is the final thread on my repair. Please note that this is my first time repairing audio amplifiers so I may not be aware of common issues and things to know.

Lets start at what I have done so far. Random speaker popping on all channels is fixed by replacing the 2 large filter...

Philips 43PUS7506/12 - Loud blown out sound
                by aidanmo
                Hello,

I've got a really strange issue with the speakers on my Philips 43PUS7506/12. It makes this awful loud buzzing now. It happened after it was attempted to be wall mounted - I think the back got squeezed and something broke.
I thought maybe the speakers got damaged, so I replaced them - no dice.
                • Using the internal speakers, it always happens.
                • Using the headphone jack, it never happens.
                • Using the digital/optical out with a soundbar - it happens after about 2h/movie runtime - it's never as drastic, it just pops in and out, but I didn't want it to damage the sound bar
                ...

Marantz Model 150 Tuner "NULL" Adjustment..
                by Mark R
I am not ashamed to say this is my first FM alignment I have ever done. I am well versed in electronics and repair. Been doing it for many years on Pro Audio Live sound equipment. Worked on Power amps EQ's musical gear and Large format Mixing Live consoles Etc. But now I can see this is a whole different world when it comes to tweaking this kind of gear. I do have the proper gear like the SENCORE SG 80 and HP Generators and Scopes Etc.

Look below at Adjustment 12:8. The Null adjustment. I have a Heathkit IM-28 VTVM that was rebuilt and has new Burned in tubes that I used for this...

Marantz SR5007 popping on volume change and mute in Direct Mode
                by BigOof
                Hi,

I bought a used Marantz SR5007 and it's giving me some issues that I can't seem to really place. It functions well in most settings, ARC mostly works, it has no issues driving my speakers in any of the digital input modes, but I'm having issues running analog inputs in direct or pure direct mode. For some reason in this mode there's distortion for every volume increment I give it, but once the volume is stable it has no issues. Muting creates a loud pop, switching to another source also causes a pop and so does turning off the amp in that mode. Again, no issue in the digital modes....

                marantz sr6012 no sound
                by oshimapt
                hello guys,

first of all i'm not a qualified repair guy, i am a diy guy and as years pass by i have some experience on repairing eletronics, and i'm hoping someone can share their experience.

i have a marantz sr6012, some times it turns on and works normal, but after a while the sound cuts off or it starts getting distorted and then cuts off.

when this happens there is no audio no matter the source used, and the OSD shows unknow audio signal from the source.

i was reading very carefuly the service manual and it is all pointing for...
