Not so surprised to find a bad cap in this early 2005 GE side by side refrigerator motherboard.

Re: Refrigerator motherboard
Probably would have been fine if it wasn't sitting next to that heatsink.
Recap the damn board and let us know if it fixes the fridge. -
Re: Refrigerator motherboard
Got a new board free from GE - warranty issue, and the board completely fixed the fridge.
Issue was variable speed fans ramping up and down making a moaning noise, as well as the compressor would turn off and not turn back on, letting everything melt. If the fridge was unplugged about 30 minutes then plugged back in, it would work for a while - initially for a few weeks, then the time period working became shorter and shorter until it wouldn't stay working for even a day.
Caps were Nantung CD288HL 105 degC 470 uF 25VComment

Re: Refrigerator motherboard
I am new to the board but have the same power problem with my GE PSS26MSTA. I am getting the run around from GE, but if the problem is the caps how hard are they to replace? The board cost $175 and I am retired with little to spare. I do have some skills in this area, but some boards are VERY hard to get right.Comment

Re: Refrigerator motherboard
You may have been better on a refrigeration forum - I dont see many posts on here regarding refrigerator motherboards. As to how hard are they to replace - well that mainly depends on you. This old post cropped up earlier today and has some relevance.

Re: Refrigerator motherboard
The only pain I foresaw was cleaning the potting compound/protective coating from the board. I did not repair the board but kept it in the box the new board was shipped in... I got the run around at first, but when I referenced some information off the internet about the problem and repair documentation they said they could arrange a service call and they would provide the part and I would pay labor - but I asked if I could install the part myself, and they said ok but no guarantee, and if they sent out a service tech and the board didn't fix the problem I would have to pay labor AND the part. After I assured them I only wanted the board shipped directly to me, and I would install the board myself and did not want a warranty just the board, THEN they agreed to send the board. I had several phone calls over a couple days and was on the phone more than a couple hours including hold time... but persistence paid off :-)Comment

Re: Refrigerator motherboard
Hello themummerts,
Welcome to the forum. I hate that some pcbs have a con-formal coating. I guess its so you or any other normal handy person can't repair it. Or maybe because of where its mounted. I had a similar issue with a ecu board for a industrial vehicle. Theres one on Ebay right now for a fair price. Good luck I hope you get it going again!

by glovecapsHello,
I have a Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 (G533QM) that had a dead motherboard (Graphics card dead) and after trying to fix the motherboard with no success, I bit the bullet on a sale for a new motherboard. I ordered a motherboard for the 15 inch model which is the one that I have, and when the motherboard arrived it wasn't for a little while that I saw it was from the 17 inch model.
My question is, can I update the Bios on this G733 motherboard to a G533 Bios.
The reason for wanting to do this is that the keyboard isn't working as it should, and I think this... -
by acedogblastThis is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.
There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as... -
by dhenionI'm working on my sister's laptop: Asus VivoBook F510UA-AH51 - The motherboard died so I replaced it.
The original board was:
ASUS X510UNR REV 3.0 A
The replacement board is:
ASUS X510UNR REV 3.0 B (identical except B vs A - I couldn't find an A board anywhere. Visually they are identical.)
It boots right up on the replaced motherboard and everything works fine on the new motherboard - but it won't run off battery. When I disconnect the charger it immediately dies. When I plug it back in and reboot the system - it still shows the battery at...1 Photo -
by Stanley1843Hello to everyone.
My W26361-W84-X-02 motherboard starts but don't show image (no logo screen neither bios). Because, I have two of them I desoldered the bios chip from the no working motherboard and I soldered it to the working motherboard and the motherboard works OK, so the bios firmware isn't the problem. Below I took some measurements from the no working motherboard when is power on. Also, I replaced the RAM and didn't work again (maybe some pins from the RAM slot don't have the right voltage?). I replaced and the bios battery, and I made reset on the bios and again the problem didn't...1 Photo -
by flibidyI have here a Magnum IA.100 which belongs to my parents.
The unit powers on & when the relay kicks in, you get a pop from the speakers (this might sound weird but is usual behavior for this amp). However, you get nothing coming through it from any of the inputs & no pops and crackls from any of the controls.
Because of the sound from the speaker when the amp turns on I have assumed that the output section probably works but I could be wrong & I'm not sure how to test that side of things further.
