MIG-130 feed motor PCB GI-PCB-H59-A0 repair (old: Help me with capacitor replacement)

Hi I have this circuit from a me welding station that has a burnt capacitor but I don't know the value of it wonder if you can help me? the one that is left has 100uf 50v there is a fuse on the circuit it is ok

      this might help a bit

and this .. looks like its a bridge rectifier problem .. or something else killed it ..
      https://www.reddit.com/r/AskElectron...m_overheating/

google lense seems to be getting better ..

It's not a capacitor, it is a 2W10 bridge rectifier. Here is a picture in case the others disappear in the future.

Re: Help me with capacitors replacement

          it was a rectifier ..
looks like it needs redesigning to me . its that or needs quality parts .. bridge rectifiers arent fuses or even a good substitute , resistors however ......

Re: Help me with capacitors replacement

I would say it's a crappy soft-start circuit, the big resistor gets bypassed by the triac once the main filter caps are charged up, after the delay.
The board does not look repairable - the bridge rectifier burned up quite badly and the board has too much carbon tracking for mains voltage use IMHO.

If the welder has shorted power components (mosfets, IGBT's) it usually burns up the soft-start resistor so not sure what happened here. The board might have had an arc across the connector/bridge rectifier due to badly designed pc board spacings.

Re: Help me with capacitors replacement

Thank you all for your quick replies. The circuit looks to be able to be layered it's just dirt on the top part .now the question is what best bridge rectifier that can replace the old one and that might last because I can't find similar in my junk

but did you find anything else shorted? something else probably caused that.

i have been told it was a mechanical (machine could no longer feed weld steel) but i don't think so. i will test and see what is broken. but please can you tell me what can i replace the burnt part i mean with something higher value for it to hold

What value of fuse is in the board? The diode 2W10M (2AMP/1KV) should be fine, If this is the wire feed motor drive circuit I would check the wire feed motor etc. for a problem, It may be that the wire feed stopped, and blew the fuse, then someone bypassed the fuse and the bridge and circuit traces burnt up.

from what i can find about these its happened at least 3 times . its for a cheap welding machine so corners may have been cut building it .

that's probably what has happened. i don't have this rectifier in my collection and would like to put it together as soon as possible. can you put a replacement one? Which one would you suggest?

Tell me every rectifier you have in your collection and I will recommend one. There are not that many that will fit that space.

Check the attached photo, the clearance is a joke!
I would put a regular bridge rectifier like I have shown if there is room for it.
Then remove the traces so the clearance between them is more than a cat whiskers hair!
But you need to triple check my work, it is hard to tell if there are more traces on the top of the board...

Just noticed your board is unmarked but the one linked by petehall347 in reply #3 has markings on it.
The board is apparently for the wire feeder motor in the welder, and from what others wrote on Reddit it sags so the wire speed is inconsistent.
If you search for these you get lots of hits, seems like a remarkably crap design!

                                          Hi,

i am asking for some Help.
I have one of these Nescafe Aeroccino (Milk Frother) things with a bad motor.
The Motor didn´t start anymore and internet is full of users just swapping the motor for a Mabuchi RF-500TB-12560.
So i got a few of these from Banggood.

I swapped the motor and now i have a new fault condition.

In a working Frother you would press the start button, it will light red and work for a few minutes.
If you press longer it will light blue and just mixup the milk.

With the new Motor it just starts...

hi there,im having a look at repairing a wood lathe for my dad,(charnwood w821)the problem is when turning up the variable speed control, the motor starts to stop and start by itself,if i continue to turn up the speed it will trip the mcb in the consumer unit, there is also a slight smell of burning from the speed controll box.,Another strange symptom is the lathe can be unplugged from the mains after switching it off and the motor will spin a couple of times by itself,so far ive put a new speed controll potentiometer on and new motor brushes, ive also tested the motor windings and everything looks...

Unknown transformer : how to find a good replacement part ?

                                          Hello guys,

I would like a quite old but still good 800 W ATX PSU to be repaired. The problem was an extremely heavy coil whine coming from the small secondary transfomer on the PCB.

I desoldered it hoping the references on the upper side would allow me to find a adequate replacement part. Sadly the written references drove me nowhere but to the manufacturer (I-MAG). I sent them a message like a bottle in the see asking them to send me a datasheet of the transformer. And... They responded ! I received a kind of datasheet (see attachment) but my competencies do not allow...

Motor run capacitor physical size vs voltage rating & measurements?

                                          (TL;DR skip the first paragraph)
I encountered my first dead motor run capacitor at a customer this week.
For some fields I guess it is a very common occurrence but the usual way for industrial machines here is to use 3-phase motors.
(Unless a servo motor makes more sense that is).
But for some reason this 3-phase machine uses a 1-phase motor for its liquid coolant pump.
The pump would run but sometimes trip the 10A breaker.
I monitored it starting and stopping for over an hour until it finally stopped in a specific spot between its windings:
                                          Then it could...

                                          Help identify this motor

                                          Hi all forum members,
Found this unknown motor discarded in a junk yard and took home for learning experience. By the look of it, I suspect it is taken out from a type of air blower probably running on ac power. I used digital multimeter on ohm/resistance scale and it doesn't read anything on those 2 black wires. So, this motor is not shorted and should be good to run.

Correct me if i am wrong on the initial test.
Can anyone kindly advice on how to test run this motor based on visible external two black wires. Fyi, i don't see any marking on the motor body nor smell anything...
