i wonder if the update is fast enough to see electrical noise on dc rails. ??

i dont know how to test one other than by blowing shit up!!

it just looks like a detonator for putting stuff across - like leds!!!

meggers arent for testing as much as for fixing picture tubes or so i was told .

yes indeed .. i believe a modern pat tester works plus more features too .
i could never find anyone to hold the probes whilst i turned the handle to make sure it was working .

If anyone know what it is and know how it works would not touch the leads while you winding it up

i have seen them now on ali with 2KV output,
but to do a legit pat test i think you need 5ma - have to check that.

in the end, you buy it for the retro/fear factor.
an electronic 1KV megger with 2Gohm range costs less!

I have owned one of these DMMs for a few months now. It's a reasonable meter for the price, but some of the measurements take a little longer than expected to show the results. But it is pretty accurate.

I have just received this DMM (see link below) the other day, and it's much better.
Look at the spec for yourself. And the price is great also.

Not one I would want, look around for a decent second hand Fluke some of the models can be had for similar amounts on the second hand market, well minus the scope(y) thing anyways.

waveform display is what makes it usefull though.
if i was after a very safe meter i would skip fluke and get a Hioki btw.

Re: What do you think about this meter Feedback need

Hioki has no electrical safety agency approvals, I would avoid them for that.
Typical of Japanese multimeters. They will claim EN61010 or Cat. III but no proof they were tested. Then you find a gas tube inside, not a MOV like Fluke and others, so I would not use that on mains stuff. Once a gas tube is lit, it's shorting your input.

Oscilloscope kit DSO138 is cheap and popular, I wonder if it outperforms this DMM's scope. OP might look at those too.

Yeah no I would choose Fluke over a Hioki every day for the above reasons, and regarding the 'scope function' I think it only displays up-to 200khz waveform if I read the spec correctly.

Yes about a Fluke but I do not want to pay that much for that type of meter yes I am a tight ass but can not help it
