Material to fix a power cord stopper

Hi guys,

This is the last step before a total reassembly of my subwoofer YST-SW320,
i need to know what kind of material did yamaha use , to fix the power cord , and also the power switch ?This material prevent from air leakage also.

In the service manual , they recommend to use rapid cure bond such as 5 min epoxy.

I tried with Pattex Repair Epoxy Instant MIX 5 min, without success , it become to hard compare to the yamaha one and when i tried to bend the power cord, the epoxy material tend to break easily.

The material that is already present for the power switch , is soft /elastic like neoprene,this is not silicon at all, it was the same material for the power cord stopper , i removed it to change the power cord.

Here is a picture of the material, if you have any suggestion!

It looks just like silicone RTV to me.

It looks similar to hot melt glue. You can test it by touching it with a hot soldering iron to see if melts and then hardens when it cools. Most of the hot melt glue I have used remains semi-pliable once it cools.

@SteveNielsen : this is not RTV for sure, i have a tube at home.

@T30M31 : this is not hot melt glue ,it doensn't melt at all.

Since the purpose of the glue is for sealing the cabinet for air tight, not for holding the power cord, switch, etc. in place, those part by itself will stay in place without the glue and it shoud otherwise it will not pass safety compliance test. So I would use Silicone RTV for sealing any opening but make sure it does not make contact with any electrical conductors since regular home use silicone has acid in it which will damage copper traces and conductor, you use electronic grade silicone for that purpose.

This material is Araldite Standard 2 Mix glue.
The specific (long time to set Araldite) glue, have better properties than rapid for your application.
Try it and you will have 100% success.

Thank you guys for all your answers ,

I ended up by using some RTV 162 , because Araldite brand is really hard to find in my country ( France ), but it looks good for the moment with the RTV but it is so damn hard to obtain something smooth when applying it in thick layer because of the high viscosity, but maybe because i'm too in the aesthetic side i think! Hope it will last as long as the first material.
