    Can anyone identify this cap?

Hi, i blew an electrolytic cap on a freeview box ( UK digital terrestial ) ,
so I changed the cap ( and it's immediate neighbor ) for new , same spec.

I changed the 1N4007 rectifier diode ( 1A 1000v ) on the 240v input and the 200kOhm resistor that was sat parrallel to it.

I have this capacitor here ( see pic ) but I'm not sure what it is...
can anyone identify it from the markings and dimensions???

my guess is a 630v 470nf metal foil in a polypropylene casing?
or have I got the figures very wrong? 472J ?? what is that?

Dimensions are... 13mm wide, 11mm tall, 6mm thick, 1mm thick leads which are 10mm apart.

As I'm a bit dumb... today, google is not my friend, nor is farnell or maplin, or even RS online. hmmm.

4700pf 4.7nf .047uf J=5%tolerance These are usually cracked when they are bad from the ones I have seen. They were in inverter microwaves.

No , the newer microwaves are inverter microwaves. They don't have the big heavy transformer in them. They weigh maybe 15 lbs instead of 40.

Here's just one more.... I've NO IDEA what value it is, I've googled the numbers, tried Ebay etc.... Any clues? is it all JEDEC stuff? ( i say Jedi because you'd have to be as masterful as one to know these things )

Dimensions are roughly 9mm dia ( round bit )
            5mm thick
Legs are 10.5mm apart (: ooh err ) and are offset, as in, if I lay it on it's back ( oh mrs ! ) left leg is bottom right, right leg is top left.. if you get what I mean .

MANY MANY THANKS.. I WILL resurrect this Digital Freeview Box !!! lol.

I'm new to both this board and electronics, but that would appear to be a "y-cap" . Its function is to provide filtering from live to neutral or earth if I understand correctly. I'm further assuming that the numbers printed on the front are of its specs, not of the actual part number.

Hmm i suppose it's obvious when you know what you're looking at, me, personally, CLUELESS !
Just as well I'm only replacing like for like, and not trying to bodge things

So, being a numpty.. what would I go into a shop and ask for?
I'll guess it's a metal film cap of some sort ( they all have their own names dont they... I've named this one Barry for now
he's good mates with his friend above ( previously known as Robin red blob ) lol.

Thanks for the help, I dont know what I'd have done without this web forum
( well, I do, I'd have gone out and bought a new freeview box ha ha )

DVR HIKVISION DS-7208HWI-E1/A BOARD DS-80104 REV 2.2 help identify burnt components
                    by thesame
Hy guys , i have a DVR board DS-80104 REV 2.2 that was powered wrong, i have some smds on the board that are blown and i can't identify them , maybe if someone has this board somehow and we can identify the smds', i have searched online and i can't find a schematic.
The smds are SOT-23-6 , one of them i think it has the marking ADJF since i found another one on the board with this marking , but the other one it seems that it starts with AG or it looks like. I would really apreciate if someone could help me identify those IC's .

Lenovo Legion 7 - Help Identify IC
                    by silver60618
Hi gang, its a long shot, but working on Lenovo Legion Pro 7 motherboard NM-F091, and trying to identify this component near GPU with marking "eHFQH" that is burned and shorting the board. Looks like power management IC

I couldnt find any schematic or boardview. The CPU side also has same chip. Any way to identify this chip? or take measurements from the good chip to determine what it is?

                    Any help would be appreciated...

How can I identify varistor which have been blew up?
                    by chth96
I mistakely pluged 100v japanese retro game console to 220v outlet.
So It seems that glass fuse and varistor have been blew up.
I can identify that voltage and ampere value of glass fuse(250V LF 1.6A),but It is impossible to identify varistor type in my sega saturn PSU(YAMAHA 35M07U XR258)
Is there any way to identify varistor type in my sega saturn PSU?
                    Any reply would be appreciated.

                    EDIT:
It seems that I finally found out what type this black varistor is. It is Panasonic ERZV05D221 “ZNR” Transient/Surge Absorbers (Type D) Varistor Voltage...

It is written eHFAA on it but didn't found any info, no boardview, nothing. Can anyone help identify the part so I can order it from somwhere?
