    12VDC to 5V USB port.

I was on a sudden and unexpected trip out of town the other day, and realized my phone was running low on charge. I went to the local WalMart and grabbed a cigarette lighter to dual USB adapter. Then I found a 140W inverter with a usb port for a couple bucks more so I grabbed that. Well, the inverter runs all the time. Huge parasitic draw for just a USB port.
I pulled it apart and traced it out, the 5V is coming off its own board and is just taking 12V from the board. The only thing that is being done is a pair of 16V 2200uf on the feed.
Could I take just the board and hard wire it up to my switched aux line I have in my car? Should I add a capacitor on the input, maybe a 470uf? I have a couple Chemi-con KMG 470uf 16v. Those twin 2200s are shared with the inverter section, so I dont think I need quite that much.

Re: 12VDC to 5V USB port.

Why not just buy a charger for your phone that plugs into the cigarette lighter?

The USB section is just a 5 volt voltage regulator with a filter cap connected afterward. That is why they're so dirt cheap. This modification sounds very convoluted for what you're trying to accomplish.

To answer your question it won't hurt to have an input filter cap. 16 volt rated filter caps are a bit too close for comfort the alternator can put out around 14-15 volts when the engine is running. I would go up to the next standard voltage 25 volts.

Elements of the past and the future combining to make something not quite as good as either.

Well, I would like to make it look like it is supposed to be there in the dash. Plus I would like to put it on my aux keyed acc/on line I already have run behind the dash for stuff like this.

A '140' watt inverter from whalemart is gonna need some help, the least of which will be a cap job.

Try one of those USB backplates that's made to fit a rear expansion slot. Cut it to fit, paint it gray or black, mount it in the dash and be lookin sharp. A little 7805 ckt is perfect.

please help, friend, thinkpad L480 NM-B461 rev 1.0 JDOCK1 type C port 5volt only, thank you
          by fredyjbi
          I have a thinkpad L480 NM-B461 rev 1.0 laptop functioning normally with Type 1 port (JUSBC1)
if you use port type C 2 (JDOCK1) with a usb type meter it only displays 5v, thank you
I tried to look at the schematic diagram USBC_VBUS20, which is the port path from JusBC 1 to U4701 then goes to the system2 charging IC, why is there no system2 path leading to the charging IC on the TYPEC_VBUS20 port which is JDOCK1, thank you for your help.

if you look at the power sequence there must be 2 types of port type C a (JUSBC1) via U4701 and port type C b (JDOCK1)
          On the type...

Vizio E55-E1 bad backlights or bad inverter?
          by x_orange90_x
I just got this tv today and it appeared to have no backlight on. After taking off the rear cover and checking again in the dark I can see that MAYBE one quadrant is lit.. But still it's quite dim. I was going to check the LEDs with my tester, and I found LED 1 and LED 2 + pins on the wire from the inverter, but I couldn't identify a ground. Nonetheless I tried using a mounting screw on the inverter board and also the chassis as ground but regardless my tester reads 300 which is what it reads when there is no voltage draw.

I don't know how exactly to test the inverter itself. Is it...

ASUS proart Studiobook h7600ZW; Had DC in port replaced and all the sudden it isn't charging but is the charging sign is on!
          by Scarfycake
          Hi all,

I sent my ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED (H7600, 12th Gen Intel) to the local repair guys to have a very simple DC in port replaced. I sourced the part myself on accessoires-asus (french company) after struggling to find the right part in the UK. It looked completely the same to the installed part from what I can tell. Originally the only issue with the laptop was a bad / loose DC connection, and so the computer and battery acted completely normal aside from a very poor connection that would fail at certain angles. After the repair was completed I brought it home and used it for...

1070 GPU. DVI port removed, wire in its place, why? Stuck on low clocks too.
          by GlenBrim
I got this recently as-is. Gigabyte 1070 video card.

DVI port is removed. I don't know why.
A wire is soldered across two spots where it looks like the DVI port was. I don't know why.

I've read of people simply ripping out DVI ports and the rest of the cards still working fine. Never read anything about soldering a wire in there for some reason.

The card seems to work fine, except it's stuck in low clock speeds. While starting a game or benchmarking, the clocks may momentarily increase to around where they should be, then goes way back down and stays...

          APSINT3636VR 3600W APS INT Series 36V DC 230V AC Inverter/Charger schematic
          by Gentian
I have a tripp-lite aspint 3636vr inverter charger which blow some of mosfet transistors. I replaced them repaired also the driver circuit and tested but the mosfets burn again.

It work very well as inverter and also as charger if I let the rear switch in auto mode (inverter) and charger only(charging) but in auto when I connect the feed line 220V AC first time it pass ok to line and start charging the batteries but when I remove the feed line it pass to inverter mode and if I do it again the second time when passing from charging to inverter the Main transformer start making a...
