    Upside down bga reflow?

I've been thinking about this for a while. I've seen the infomercials about the NuWave Precision Induction Cooktop unit, and was wondering if I could set it to about 450° f and put the mainboard on it BGA side down and reflow the chips. Could this work ?

No, it's an induction cooker. https://www.cda.eu/hobs/how-does-ind...-cooking-work/

I thought the metal top of the chips would conduct the heat.

The tops of the processors in LGs and Samsungs are non ferrous, I'm guessing aluminium.

Even if it did transfer the heat, I think the weight of the board pressing down would deform the balls.

          What diif said. ^

The induction cooker will only heat metal parts made of ferrous metals (i.e. iron, steel, etc.) Nothing else will react.
Also, the inductive field could (and very likely will) generate substantial currents through the PCB and possibly kill something on the board.

So again, that's a big NO.

Yup, and then there's that too. ^

So even if this was not an inductive heater, but instead a regular IR/element heater, the answer is still, No, it won't work.

The idea has been wiped from my thinkmeat(brain). At least I won't have to buy the NuWave.

Can confirm. An employee put a digital scale on the induction cooker when off. Something fell and hit the button to turn the induction cooker on. It was on for maybe a few seconds, that scale was completely destroyed.

I don't let anyone put anything other than a pot on the induction cooker anymore.

                Hello all,

I am experimenting a bit with reflowing larger components - ideally I'd like to reflow a PS4 APU or a GPU for example.

I know it's impossible to reflow such large components with just hot air so I bought a pre-heating plate, T-8280 classic Chinese machine, which seems to be working fine besides it's a little slow, which shouldn't be a big deal.

Now, my hot air station is a Aoyue 852A++ and I feel it's a bit weak when used with larger nozzle. I tried reflowing a laptop chipset using one of those large, rectangular, nozzles and I failed miserably,...

Concerns before attempting a Reflow of Laptop's GPU

I saw some posts at one point talking about doing a reflow but I couldn't find them again so I thought that I would post this here.

I plan on reflowing the GPU of this old HP DV2500 laptop but I want to go over what I have and the steps I have to take to guarantee it will come out fine.

I have a Yihua 8786D 2in1 Rework station, flux (just some paste that I got from an old Radioshack kit), a couple rolls of Kapton tape and a $15 Thermometer +probe (a TM902C from EMR shielding Solutions if its important).

Google Pixel 5 - Proximity Sensor Issues - Reflow/Replacement procedure tipps wanted
                by groomit
                Hi,
I just replaced the battery on a Google Pixel 5.
After that the proximity sensor isn't functioning properly any more. It is constantly activated. So when playing a voice message on Whatsapp, the Screen instantly turns off.
Checking with a sensor app I can verify weird behavior of the sensor. It is triggered when nothing is near and sometimes works correctly when squeezing the phone next to the sensor hole.
The rubber seal is on again (as mentioned in various suggestions in other forums).

This smells like a cold or broken solder joint. So I'd like to reflow...

Help with parkside induction cooker controller IC.
                by tibd
                Hello.
I am troubleshooting a parkside induction cooker. The bord had a microcontroller ic with marking IH001 (dip24) which i think is faulty. Any ideas what this IC is, to purchase internationally? Otherwise there is a VIPer12a which seems working fine. No other defective components were found.
                Best regards.

                For BGA reflow experts...

I have attempted all sumed very few reflow processes, and i need to make it better, how do you make yours to have sureness that the balls are really fully reflowed? My temptation was always to do "the slight move" touching very gently an angle, but due to some cases, but maybe 100%, where the previously half working device became totally shut off, i finally understood that the damn "move" makes the balls shorted, so what do you suggest?
                Thanks!.. Muchas gracias.....
