it's old, but was a good scope - i think you can soft-hack it to 200MHz.
    and 100 is NOT slow!
i think there are some eevblog vids on it.

Yes, but it's about hacking the DS1052E to do 100Mhz LIKE the DS1102E I'm trying to get. Not sure if the same can be done to this one to bump it even higher...

Remember my pump project where I seem to be having noise issues ? It's one instance where it can come in handy, I reckon....I'll have to follow back if I actually get one, since I've never used a scope and don't know what to do with it anyway

IMO the main drawback it's not its bandwidth (100MHz, 1Gsa/s) but its low resolution screen (320 x 240) for a 5.7" size display.

Yeah, looking at it more closely myself, it looks fairly MEH....like one of those things you grab off Ali, but what you pay is what you get I guess.....

                  fuck that.
you can get the 4channel 1000z series for as low as 350 if you look around.
100MHz capable, networking, 6 years more advanced.

check out Siglent, they make decent scopes for the money. 100Mhz is all I ever needed. Of course 200Mhz is better, but so far didn't need it.

you wont get a sig' in europe for under 400 though, they are much more expensive than in the u.s.
which is strange given they are chinese.

when i got my rigol it was a choice of 4 channels rigol or 2 channels sig AND the sig was still about 50 more expensive!!

a Siglent here is also more expensive than a Rigol. It may be different for the USA, but here we get taxed stiff for imports.

Need advice testing a samsung power supply board with scope
                            by repair-it
I am attempting to test a samsung power supply board to verify the pfc ic is working. I am powering up the board with my isolation transformer. The board turns on fine but when I attempt to connect the ground for the scope probe, it trips out the isolator. I was taught not to 'float my scope' so I am wondering if I should test without connecting the ground lead or would that be asking for trouble? Not sure how else to test, I don't have a portable scope. I could plug direct to mains power but that would bypass the safety factor.

How not to Damage an Oscilloscope
                            by Tarot Superstars
                            Hello.
I have jut got my first analogue oscilloscope. An Isotech 620 20MHz.

I want to learn how not to damage it, and I found instructions on the internet obscure.
They talk about ground, earth, floating ground, this, that....
But they don't actually say anything anything useful so far.

                            I want to know:
Don't connect exactly this to exactly there or it blows up.

For example, I am tracing a signal from a function generator in an audio amp, or testing for voltages in different parts of a circuit.
I want to know what not to connect...

                            Dynamco analogue oscilloscope
                            by Evets
I have recently acquired a Dynamco D7100 analogue oscilloscope without a user manual. As this is the first time I have owned or used an oscilloscope I would like to try and find an instruction book. The manufacturers no longer hold any information and a Google search only found one site but when I downloaded a 'service manual' all I got was gobbledegook. Any help would be gratefully appreciated or even pointers to a generic manual where I could learn more.

Reading input and output of bridge rectifier on the same scope?
                            by EasyGoing1
I have a 40 volt AC transformer that I put a bridge rectifier on, and I wanted to see the input signal and the output signal on the same screen on my scope, so I set one channel up with the test lead on one side of the input and the ground lead on the other side of the input, then I used another channel on the scope and clipped the test lead on the positive side of the output then the ground on the negative side of the output.

When I connected the transformer to power, the wire that was connected between the ground lead on the second channel and the negative side of the bridge rectifier...
