Curious of those who own one of these things...
I broke up the two as I'm curious of those who have ESR testing capability within it...
Me I'm stuck with a crappy DMM hFE tester right now that I don't even use and just use diode check...

Not far off what my Peak ERS70 displays and that cost 7x the price and only does capacitance and ESR.

I also have the Peak DCA55 which is a semiconductor component tester.

I've been trying to get by without one...
wonder if it's time to get one or build one.

I have a ton of HD44780's that I really want to utilize for something, won't be as pretty but at least I'll use one of these 16x2's...

I do have a Sencore LC meter and a homemade analog ESR meter, so this thing theoretically can do both of these things. I just need to make it a bit more sturdy than a bare PCB.

it can do a lot more, if you fit a 16MHz crystal it can even read the frequency of crystals and resonators upto about 10MHz,

and it can decode I.R. bitstreams from remote controls!!!

Actually it can't do leakage test at rated voltage that the Sencore does, so it's not going to be redundant...

Hmm. Unfortunately it's the 20+ MHz crystals that I have the most problems with as these don't like being breadboard tested...

you could make a bit of stripboard with a socket, a couple of caps and an ic to get it running.
then just poke it with a frequency counter.

Wow, seems a lot of you all have them or nobody is admitting to not having one...

Anyone DIY and assembled ones own using the guides?
Yeah probably not worth it to have a board fabricated, but I was thinking about fabricating my own board as well...
I just worry about the calibration with resistors, as I'll probably be using 5% resistors. I might have to cherry pick them...

I Have most of them , but never used them , maybe since the damper diodes invention .. Yes , due to the infinite possibilities and diversity of Transistors specs , i always preferred the old six ways manual check . More effective and let you catch by experience , a base from an Emitter or collector , or if it is an irregular transistor .
Nowadays , i come to neglect a Multi at any cost . A high professional tool for each electronic component is a luxury one must have .
