does anyone have or has anyone used a pc based oscilloscope that works on the usb port on a laptop???? thinking about buying one.

useable ones are pretty damned expensive - you may be better looking at a whole scope rather than a digitiser.Comment

the Tenma one is 20MHz, that's as low as anybody should ever go.
it's also a trading name - i would rather know who actually makes it so a manual can be found.
the Hitachi is 15MHz - so no.
the 3rd item number comes up blank for me!
cant you find a cheap 30-50MHz Hameg or Tektronix for those type of prices?Comment

I'd also recommend looking for a used standalone 'scope. I've used a couple cheap USB ones and I'd not really recommend them for anything serious.
I'd watch ebay and check out your local craigslist\alternatives. Some good stuff shows up here time to time, no telling what elsewhere might have.Comment

Hello.
I have jut got my first analogue oscilloscope. An Isotech 620 20MHz.
I want to learn how not to damage it, and I found instructions on the internet obscure.
They talk about ground, earth, floating ground, this, that....
But they don't actually say anything anything useful so far.
I want to know:
Don't connect exactly this to exactly there or it blows up.
For example, I am tracing a signal from a function generator in an audio amp, or testing for voltages in different parts of a circuit.
I want to know what not to connect... -

I have an Asus G552V notebook, Mainboard model GL552VW Rev 2.0 (Attached images), which upon powering on, does not display any video (Using the HDMI output with an external monitor as well) There is no disk reading, and it does not respond to the keyboard, except for the power button. Only the Power LED and the CAP LED light up.
I have disconnected the battery, disks, and all peripherals to work only with the mainboard and start with the measurements.

I'm designing an ESP-based WLED controller board for WS2815 12V LED strips, with a primary focus on energy efficiency.
To minimize power consumption, my goal is to completely shut down the system when the LED strip is turned off.
However, the current buck converter powering the ESP module draws about 8 watts even when the LEDs are idle, making it unsuitable for low-power operation.
I am using below components:- Buck Converter: TPS562201 (12V → 5V regulated)
- Microcontroller: XIAO ESP32-C3 (with built-in USB-C)
- LED Strip: WS2815 (12V digital LED strip)

Hey guys,
I am new to the electronics repair game & have stumbled into some tools to get my workshop (garage) started.
I managed to get my hands on a low budget multi-meter, soldering iron, de-soldering gun, oscilloscope and a variable voltage/amperage DC power supply.
With this being a new hobby i am thinking of investing in some tools to make it a little easier.
When i get paid next i was thinking of buying a Peak Atlas ESR 70 gold.
I am after suggestions on what order to buy things because i don't have the money... -
I have recently acquired a Dynamco D7100 analogue oscilloscope without a user manual. As this is the first time I have owned or used an oscilloscope I would like to try and find an instruction book. The manufacturers no longer hold any information and a Google search only found one site but when I downloaded a 'service manual' all I got was gobbledegook. Any help would be gratefully appreciated or even pointers to a generic manual where I could learn more.
