Do i wire up with a UK plug or put in the bin ?

I bought a cheeeeap smd vacuum device from China and thought i'd take a look to see inside. Seems a bit dodgy to me but what do you think ?

Before i took the bottom off i was thinking i'd add a filter to one of the lines and see if i could use it as a desoldering pump. Now i'm not so sure i should even bother sticking a plug on it, although perhaps i should for research purposes ?

Looks like an aquarium bubbler stone air pump

Sometimes you need to break shit to fix it.... Thats why my lawnmower doesn't have a deadman switch or engine brake anymore

looks o.k. other than the switch maybe - what's the switch got stamped on it - any voltage ratings?
      clever design.

btw, it's never going to pull solder - the diaphrams are way to small.
you would be better using a pump from a car airhorn - that's the type of pump weller DS80 used to use.

It will probably work fine for what it was designed.

Maybe if you gang the two pumps together with some one way valves you might get enough suction to pull solder. Maybe you could hook the hose up to a blunt tip hypodermic needle. That would give you high velocity at the business end and a chamber with lower velocitty to capture the solder.

        Good luck!

Thanks guys, nothing stamped on the switch stj. I'll get a plug on it tomorrow.
Attached is a photo of the "suckers" with attachments.
So maybe if i upgrade my pump and use the larger one with a filter.

Thats total overkill for your application. Also, if those are the type of pump Im thinking it is (have 2 scientific pumps in the garage myself) they dont work well at atmospheric pressure. They are good at pulling a very deep vacuum over the course of hours. They also require pump oil (change after every use!) and looking at the condition, an expensive pump vane rebuild kit.

An air horn pump, as mentioned by stj is your best bet.

Edit: looked at your pic, those are hypodermic needles. You could easily buy a larger bore tip if needed. My only concern would be how to clean out the handles.

Thanks, i do get a little carried away sometimes. I'll use what i have as intended for smd work and think a little more about an electric desolderer. It will need to be able to be cleaned and have a filter in or two.

              Something like this ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12v-Twin-A...item259505e61e

Something like this might work. It's got 85Kpa and 9L per minute@24v. The hakko FR-300 gets 81Kpa and 11L per minute.

Meaco Arete One / Deye Dehumidifier not working
                  by CG2
I've got a dehumidifier that has stopped working. Plug it in, press the power switch, and it beeps 5 times. Nothing showing in the display (which is just two 7 segment displays) apart from the two decimal points flashing. The model is a MeacoDry Arete One 18L, which seems to be a rebadged Deye (all the boards are marked Deye). Here's what I've got so far (details in case anyone else in future should need them).

Starting with the power board. Mains power comes in at the red connector top left. The compressor is powered by the orange connector to the right of that and is switched by...

                  Fancoil.controller with current issues
                  by edugimeno
Hi there! One friend called to say his fancoill (used for a main access cold Air courtain) controller caught fire, and asking if I could recover the half burnt board
He said the design was too bad as this thing was probably designed for hot water only, as the board was places right underneath the condenser radiators
I found some burnt traces and after a quick Google search for the board name (Pwr-05v-w) I could see an image of the original I was able to find where the original traces were going
The scheme seems simple, from what I understand mains gets into the while 3 lead...

New wire for my RDE3340 Whirlpool electric range
                  by wnlewis
OK. I got the rocker switch figured out thanks to the good advice on this forum.

Now I need to figure out the correct wire to go to the switch from the broiler element and from the oven element.

This is a Whirlpool RDE3340 electric range.

The common wire on the switch appears to have a high temperature insulating material. I am guessing that both the wire to the broiler and the wire to the oven elements also need relatively high temperature insulation. What do I need to look for? The broiler is rated at about 2400 watts.

                  Where may I find parts...

ZD-915 vacuum pump motor mount service alert
                  by sam_sam_sam
If you have this Desoldering Gun Station there is something you should be aware of the two screws that hold the motor to mounting for pump can come loose and make raddling noise

One note this unit has been repaired already once because of switching power supply regulator ic chip failure
Now this with the vacuum motor mounting issue yes I give this Desoldering station a very hard work out and use about every weekend to do some type of project

The fix is taking the vacuum pump assembly out and take the metal cover off and you will see the two screws on it

                  by emeskay
We have an Lenovo Yoga 710 15ISK that we use as a secondary laptop. To cut a long story short, around May 2023, while traveling, I connected the laptop into an electrical outlet that was already switched on. Something made a "pfft" sound and the laptop refused to turn on after that. After getting back home, I gave the the laptop for repair to an informal repair person. He replaced the adapter and an internal motherboard part, but after he returned it I noticed that the LCD did not look normal. Essentially, every alternate horizontal line on the screen had gone missing. The laptop was...
