I was removing the DC jack on an MSI laptop system board. One of the legs wouldn't release and I ended up breaking the jack off with that leg still in the hole. Its more square than round. Having the hardest time getting that little piece of metal out of that hole. Any suggestions?

Re: Broken DC jack leg stuck in hole
Try hot soldering iron and a dab of fresh solder and a stainless needle or safety pin to push it out. Don't use a brass safety pin, the solder will bind to it. -
Re: Broken DC jack leg stuck in hole
I first melt 63/37 solder onto it, remove as much solder as I can, repeat up to 2x. If that doesnt work I use chip-quik. If you are having problems getting it hot enough Ill often preheat the area with hot air.

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

by valvashonSamsung UN55FH6030CXZA main board, BN41-01894, bad USB jack. Jack is mangled and needs replacing with like. Jack is marked "Simula" with the number 130318. Search for Simula turns up a weak looking website of a company that seems/seemed to supply USB jacks and other USB technology but no current items turn up for sale.
I should be able to research and find something applicable through a Digi-Key search after I unsolder/cut out this one and measure the mounting/pin connection pattern on the board but I thought I'd ask here to see if anybody knows of an exact make/model...01-23-2025, 11:17 AM -
by magnehHello guys
This is an old device from a friend.
DC jack was broken, and I figured that SIO was also KO.
Replaced SIO and DCjack, and DCin LED is now ON again
But when pressing power button, nothing happens.
Does the SIO needs to be programmed? ITE IT8518E
Thanks for any inputs.... -

cutting tiny trace.
This tiny trace(Total width of white coating is 5.5mm) is between R337,R343 and IC101 and it is covered with white coating in the below screenshot.
Firstly I tried to bridging tiny broken trace with my own eyes...But it is totally impossible..So a week ago, I ordered G1200 Digital Microscope and I magnified this tiny broken trace with it.
But It seems that It is really very tiny trace So I plan to order 0.1mm coper wire from aliexpress in order to bridging... -
i was trying to desolder ost junk caps at the cpu vrm out area from an asus p4c800-e deluxe board. the problem is that a couple of the ost junk caps came out but without their legs. the legs were stuck in the through-hole of the board. i managed to pull some of them out with pliers on one hand and soldering iron on the other hand but now only one is left.
this one is too short to grip with pliers. i tried pushing a sewing needle through one side and soldering iron on the other but the leg is just stuck fast inside the through-hole and wont bulge. if i use too much force, the sewing... - Loading...
