Re: Looking for recommendations on IR rework station
depending what you planning on repairing, this model may work for. I have some regret on buying the T862++ because of the lack of temperature monitoring, no preset function, and chip size limitation for BGA chips. But other IR station will cost you at least $1,100. -
Re: Looking for recommendations on IR rework station
Thanks for the reply . I am looking for a good all rounder like removing small bga and larger Gpu's northbridge southbridges as I'm not having a great time with my Aoyue 968 hot air in removing connectors and just wrecked some tracks trying to remove a Tps51120 chip from pcb as the heat is very uneven.
Looking to spend around 1K euro.
I was looking here

Not sure which model to go for as I have no experience with IR.Comment

Re: Looking for recommendations on IR rework station
what a coincidence, I too was looking into buying that IR workstation. I will have to sell my T862++ to help with the purchase of that unit. Its sell for about $1100.00USD. I have read comments left on ebay from buyer and its seem to be a reliable unit. maybe someone who have this unit can confirm this.

Some are built better than others, but I guarantee you will see at least 1 hack or a corner cut somewhere.Comment

I interact with a lot of different individuals that are involved the bga rework field and the one machine in that category they seem to prefer the most is the Bauer IR PRO SC V4

It's made in china but it's a UK product.Comment

Re: Looking for recommendations on IR rework station
Personally I prefer hot air but If I were to buy an IR station and I could afford it it'd be the Bauer IR PRO SC V4 or the Jovy RE 8500.
Here is the one I'm looking at and I'd like to know if there is anybody here that owns it or is experience with IR stations.

I've seen some people saying that they prefer IR because it's better for working on Large thick boards.
What are your opinions with about IR stations?Comment

If you do not do such repairs you can avoid it.Comment

Re: Looking for recommendations on IR rework station
Sorry, but gotta revive this thread again.
How did you guys get on with the Bauer? How does Bauer compare against Jovy re8500?
Also, on a sobering note, it seems that, apart from poor build that Chinese brands are well known for, one serious problem with any bga- flavoured activity is correct use of heating profiles. Manufacturers of poor eqipment are useless on this, and even if they weren't, their inferior machies are too unstable heatwise anyway.
But what about the better manufacturers? Does anyone have good info on the heat profiles, timings, etc.?Comment

by capriderHey,
I'm looking for some recommendations of a decent quality soldering station and a separate hot air station. I'm just a hobbyist, so even if (ultra)premium tools are not required, I still want some good tools. They should be available in Europe.
I now have a TS100 and some soldering irons and looking for some better tools.
1. Soldering station, budget around 200-240€
JBC BT-2BWA seems to be a good product in the budget.
2. Hot air station, budget around 200€
Up to now I've found ATTEN ST-862D to be a good option.... -

by petemanukHi,
I been playing with a recently acquired IR6500 rework station and watching lots of YouTube tutorials to see how to use it with not much success. I’ve only recently joined badcaps but going through the forums there is a lot of knowledge here, so though it best is if I ask my question here.
1. Firstly is the IR6500 any good for BGA rework or should I be spending my money on a better one.
2. The instruction manual is pretty useless on explaining how to set the PID loops (no information at all!!) both top and bottom heater for th Kp, Ki and Kd...10-14-2022, 12:31 AM - Loading...
