If I had to guess, I'd say that's LGA1156?

Re: HMMM....What could this be....
Yup. Have had good luck with them in the past. Top one is a plain DVDROM, the bottom is a DVDRW, both SATA.Originally posted by weirdlookinguyOptiarc drives?<--- Badcaps.net Founder

Re: HMMM....What could this be....
^^
865W. I opted to not get the dual redundant, as it's not as powerful. For a personal system, a redundant PSU isn't as crucial. If this were a server, I'd have gone for the redundant, absolutely.
This is the specs on the case/motherboard.
http://supermicro.com/products/syste...YS-7046A-T.cfm
I won't be using the onboard SATA RAID. I'll be using the SATA backplane with a 3ware 9650SE-8LPML 8-Port RAID Controller. The only true hardware driven SATA raid controller in existence. It will also allow me to use all 8 bays, instead of 5~6 if I use the onboard. This is the FIRST system i've built for myself since 1995 that wasn't SCSI.<--- Badcaps.net Founder

Re: HMMM....What could this be....
Smart choice on the 3Y 865W beast.
God I love the looks of those supermicro cases, so simple and industrial. Bet that is build like a tank.

Re: HMMM....What could this be....
Looks like it has all polymer caps. My GA-EP45-DS3L has all Sanyo SEPC. Not a lytic to be seen.I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!
No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

Re: HMMM....What could this be....
Alright, I'll spill the beans.....Originally posted by doodSo what are you putting in it? Specs, man, I want specs!
Here's the CPU's (pair of them of course):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819117185
Here's the RAM I got to start. I ordered 2 of these kits (6x 4gb reg/ECC DDR3 DIMM's). This gives me 24gb of RAM, and leaves half the slots open, so I can add 24gb more later.......
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820161337
Hard drives will be:
2x 150gb Raptors in a mirror (boot and OS)
2x 1tb in a mirror for all my other crap.
The cost breakdown:
The supermicro barebones = $900 or so
CPU's = $800 or so for the pair
24gb of RAM = $790 or so
3ware 8ch SATA2 raid controller w/ backup module and batt = $600 or so
hard drives = $500 or so
video card (9600GT 1gb) = $200 IIRC
Opticals = dont remember how much they were.
Total cost = $3790 roundabout.....wowza...
Yea I know.... I overkill the hell out of my personal systems. The one I'm about to phase out was the same way 7 years ago, and now its old and slow. I'd rather have the horsepower and not need it, than need it and not have it. On top of that, I'll be using this thing for atleast 7~8 years.....and being my personal system, I don't want to mess with it. I just want to use it when I want/need it. I dont mind fixing other people's crap systems, but I absolutely can not stand fixing my own broken stuff...so overkill it is!!

Re: HMMM....What could this be....
I recognized the drives because I have that exact same Optiarc DVDRW/LightScribe drive in my system. Make sure you upgrade the firmware on that puppy, I was getting nonstop errors burning music CD's in iTunes until I did that. No problems ever since.
I think this is the first time a computer has ever made me want to cry. Well done sir

by momakaI know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.
For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

by iotaaHi,
You will probably find this funny, and it is, but it's also a project I'd like to take seriously.
I have a campervan and I'd like to avoid thieves to break in it when I am inside it or not.
For this purpose I imagined a simple device that can play a sound based on a vibration detection (in case of intrusion attempt) or by pushing a button manually.
The sound wil be a growling dog, which will deter any thief, thinking there is a big dog inside the van
This sound can be manually triggered by me if I'm inside the van, or played automatically... - Loading...
