never used oscilloscope what is it for?

I know what it is I have never seen one or used one. I do tv repair and am still learning. I mainly swap out boards but I seen some of these oscilloscope kits on ebay to make one for like 20.00 and I would like to do little projects like that as well as make the esr meter. but im wondering could I use this oscilloscope for anything? what type of stuff could I use it for?

I do component level repair and quite complex never and rarely use a scope mainly my meter. I plan to get one soon for checking wave forms it can be very useful.

Yes, they are basically worthless.
Much better to pay $50-$70 for an old analog scope, dual channel, at least 20MHz bandwidth and you're good.
