Has anyone delt with badcaps in dsl modems

I just opened up my 4th Motorola DSL modem to try and repair. The first three all had Capxon, and I was able to restore two of the three back to life by replacing three bad of the same kind. Thye both work now.
The third is still dead, even after changing out the same three Capxon as each had. 2 out of 3 is not bad.
Today a co-worker gave me another Motorola dsl but there were no Capxon inside, they were all Samxon caps. None were openly defective.
Motorola must have changed from Capxon to Samxon brand.

All six Samxon caps looks OK, any suggestions on the Samxon brand?

Samxon can actually be bought here at badcaps.net, they are a pretty good brand. I recall there are a few older series that have a problem with heat (like UCC KZE) but cannot remember what series they are.

They are all the GF series, but none show any signs of damage, all are flat top and no corrosion or leakage.

Every caps I've changed on anything has been swelling tops.

How often do caps fail without any visible failure?

        Thanks

Caps don't have to be visibly bloated to fail. They can have incorrect capacitance or high ESR.

Many of the members who have ESR testers (not me - I don't have one) see many bad caps with high ESR and no visible failure.

            I can attest to that.

Monitor with an external power supply, a nice 12v coming out of the supply but a dead monitor.
Leading up to the total lack of power, it had been taking a long time to switch on.

Found a small 100uf 16v cap (looked absolutely fine), 7Ω, replaced and working fine.

Also I've removed quite a few Samxon GF from LG monitors, some swell, some don't. They usually show low capacitance or abnormal ESR.

i thought that gf/gl were fakes.. or was that a different series?

                same here too.

I have a video card here that has something like a 1000uf cap on it.. tested it and it tested at something like 300uf. looks perfectly fine and all the rest of that series tested within about 30uf of that 1000 uf except that one which was less then half..

A few months ago I found the reason why a major hotel was having problems with their dsl setup. 75% of the modems have capacitor issues. They are 2 years old. Upper management doesn't believe in repairs and instead wants to upgrade the server. I think they've probably fallen flat on their face by now. Some of the caps were samxon.

I've fixed them before. I just get the tools out of the car and replace the caps on the spot. Stocking capacitors is a lot easier than stocking modems.

GL are possible fakes (IMO). especially since they (coincidentally?) look like a 1:1 clone of CapXon GL.. only difference being CapXon -> SAMXON. They also fail just as much..

GF is genuine, but a lemon series (like NCC KZG).. good brand, crappy series..
