    Identify part on Asus board

    Asus Rampage Extreme mainboard

This main board is not working. I found a component lead that is broken off.
Can you help identify the part and recommend replacement part numbers other info.
With much effort I believe I can read:
    1R0
    830
    DAK

    Thanks.

    Here's a pic.

    I'm thinking it's a low profile inductor.

I'd agree with that assesment.. I believe the 1R0 means a 1.0 uH inductor. From the picture, i'm guessing that is right next to the x58 northbridge chipset?

Quite interesting, what does that NB_NORMAL, NB_HIGH, and NB_CRAZY mean?

Look again, there are 3 rows of LEDs, one LED for each line. NB means north bridge, and I think it have to do with overclocking a north bridge. This is 250-300 plus mainboard.

I figured it had to do with those LED's and the North bridge being its right there. I like their use of the word crazy. Quite funny actually.

Thanks, guys. Now to find a replacement and see if I can resurrect this nice board.

It broke because the heatsink paste (gray wax base?) didn't let go when the board flexed a bit. It flexed cause UPS dropped it.

Why are you messing with it? File a claim with the supplier or UPS.

                    Yes. That's being done.
                    I'm just curious.

                          ...and ups claims ANOTHER victim...

50% of what we get from ups is smashed...

                          worst cases:

-box with nice crt monitor... dropped on a dock somewhere, monitor scuffed as hell.

-box left by doorstep in rainstorm, no platic or anything. paperwork all soaked

-our house has 2 storm doors. one for garage attached to hose and one for front door. stoop on patio as well. 30% of packages end up either in front of garage or on front stoop (both good), other 70% behind second storm door (we NEVER use it) or on back stoop (we check once in a while). my mom gets a LOT of boxes because she is a merchandiser... maybe we need a deck box for them to drop in

                          - my mom has plexiglass panels coming in once in a while... (used for tv mount demo displays)... out of 4 dropped off, 2 good, one had corner powdered and the other shattered in the middle.

-back to the 2nd storm door... i once used it and found a yellow envelope from 2 monthes prior. me mom reported the job order as lost and now we know why...

-they have parked us in numerous times...

                          CONCLUSION! UPS=

                          Unsavory
                          Package
                          Smashers!

yay US mail and fedex... i miss dhl... cool looking trucks...
