    It's not that rare.

installed one in a customers deckle s20 turbo toolgrinder after a complaint of it running sluggish.took out celeron 1100 and put in p3s 1.4
they thought it was a new machine!
thing runs xp and has a ton of software running at all times.
i got a ton of these chips from a scrapper who parts out servers.
i am using them up fast.

Yea I know, the SO-DIMM's are not that rare, what I meant was that I want the IT dept to buy them, so I don't need to buy it off eBay aswell
But it will probably take them a while

I can buy SO-DIMM's new at many shops in Sweden too...

939 opterons are more rare rare. Try getting decent gig sticks of DDR at a reasonable price, especially single sided ones.

I just threw out a few of the P-III. The local church had a feebie recycle day yesterday, so I hauled over a bunch of carcasses.

Should collect them, set up as thin clients.

                      >I'm sorry. Was it GSC you recycle? G-Luxon?

i never said i recycle anything, old man....hehe...
caps i buy are new and brand i use is not on the "known badcaps" list...

To be pertinent to context read definition 3.

yep, and it perfectly fits with what i said: premium is top brands, while standard is just standard....below those 2 we have AT LEAST one more grade..at least...
now you can say "but in the "good" i've included both premium and standard types" but that's just weak, given all of our prev. discussions....
we have grades, everybody knows we have caps better than samxon(ie rubycon) and we have worse than teapo(fuhhyvu or whatever)...right there you have 4 grades of cap quality...

                      >Good brands will always be Premium [of high value] relative to bad brands.

                      so what's samxon?

                      >And within those lists there are Grades.
Panasonic FC, FM, and FJ are all on the good list.
And of those FJ is the Premium Grade [of high value] relative to FC and FM.

                      and samxon?
as a brand? where is it, just like rubycon, or below?

and if you put it below(which you must) it automatically means at least 3 grades...because other than these two SOME other grade(at least one more) exists too...

                      >Topcats classifies his stock the same way.

nope. he has "standard" and premium(top) which he considers acceptable to use on mobos..and prices differ between these 2....
otoh, you have only one grade, which is "good"....hehe...

not me, i didn't say it. that is topcat's convention used also for low esr lytics, but i'm perfectly fine with it.

                      >Simply put we can't compromise on this capacitor choices in this regard especially with high speed digital stuff. HENCE this bad caps issue is all about.

badcaps is much more than caps on mobos...

                      >I tried half way as i4004 suggested and I could not stablize my dimension 8300 there was photos of previous repair that failed on prime95 torture test. Fixed it with different capacitors that has right specs (permium stuff, all the blabble) that were correctly installed and NO *flying wires* cured the problem.

dunno...ever wrote about it on the forum? what did you put and how?
perhaps a new thread would be interesting...
either way, did i say using few gp caps(instead of one premium low esr) is a guaranteed way to fix EVERY mobo that has badcaps?
nope, didn't say that...but i DID encourage people to experiment, esp. if they can't get premium brands...i mean, that experiment didn't fry the mobo, did it?

afaik, badcaps you took out of that mobo had MUCH higher esr than two gp caps in parallel. so it was an improvement. was it good enough?
well if it didn't pass stress tests obviosuly not....so that method is not good for that particular mobo, right.... i have no issue with that...

i just have an issue with how you discourage people from experimenting on their cheap, crappy, worn worthless and essentially dead boards(that are going to dumspter anyway) with your puritanism that says "PUT ONLY THESE BRANDS!!"

no. i say experiment. with what you have. if you need to cash out that much money, hell may as well buy new mobo with solid caps....no, really: the costs of shipping premium caps to some parts of the world can be as high as getting a new mobo locally...so why bother? there are good new boards for 60$.
(i've shown recently in antoher thread (by gianni) how prices get really ridiculous real fast here where i live)
offcourse, if you can get premium caps easilly , go right ahead.
but UNDERSTAND that not everybody visiting these forums can!
                      and consider that.

                      >And next generation of CPUs comes with much ever tightening requirements on maximum overshoots and ripple restrictions because the voltage is getting lower and lower becomes diffcult. Excessive ripple and high overshoots is easy to exceed minimum voltage supply and damage the chip itself. Relatively easy to filter a 5V with some capacitors but it is diffcult with filtering 1.2V even lower (C2D and mobile applications). Next one or two generations after i7 will be under 1V threhold.

this is true...newer design need cleaner power..sure enough...but that wouldn't prevent me from trying 2 gp caps instead of one low esr, if i didn't have a place to source low esr cap from, and of that was the only option for that mobo.
(did anybody prove this can't be done and that it doesn't work? link please)
why is it so hard to understand that we work with what we have?
if i now ask you to to 0/100kmh in 2sec, will you be able to do it with your car?
no, you won't and you won't buy new car because of it.
in a same way i won't source low esr caps from usa or japan because it will cost me arm and a leg...i can't make it cost effective...
