    M-Audio Audiophile2496 soundcard help

    Hi

    i run this soundcard in my PC for low latency MIDI and overall studio quality sound...

    24-bit/96kHz digital sound....

    My friend got an external midi/soundcard so i was lucky enough to get a spare audiophile2496 from him...

    I read that you can run upto FOUR of these soundcards to add further midi devices and share the load across the cards DSP chip


    PROBLEM....

    runs with one card in BUT if both are installed my PC wont boot! totally annoying


    anyone got any ideas? it could be an IRQ problem maybe??

    i have no idea how to solve this.....

    any help will be great!

      Do the cards work ok individually?
      If so, try switching slots, but there really shouldn't be an irq issue if these are the only pci cards in there, unless there's something in the bios causing conflicts with irqs.

              thanks guys

              I have tried both cards individually - both are fully functional

              i do have a PCI usb card underneath - i could loose that i guess, i only put it in as it was lying about....


              looks like i need one card as master and the rest need to sync in to work...

              looks like i might have to buy a S/PDIF cable to do this???


              if need be i can open the bios and list the IRQ's.... what is the most items you should see on ONE IRQ? i think i seen 3 or 4 on one!

                  Perhaps you could better explain 'PC wont boot'? Does it start at all, or lock up on windows loading/start up?

                      oh yes.... i should have mentioned that

                      it will POST then try to load windows then it will reboot itself before the windows progress bar splash appears and will loop like this

                                              Hey all, I have one last thing I'm looking to fix with my Synthaxe. This time, the schematics I have are actually the same as the PCBs I have.

                                              The Synthaxe, works as its a guitar midi controller hooked up to a floor pedal. Thats the most basic way of using it, and it has a midi output. You also can connect a console to it, that stores your tunings and other things. The console has 8 midi outs, as well as a midi in and midi thru.

                                              When I first got the unit, I thought I was using it wrong, but it turns out its just broken. The 8 midi ports on the console don't output...

                                              Hey all! I have this midi controller called a "Synthaxe" which is pretty rare. It was made around 1986 and the company only made about 100. I was told less than 25 still work today. Theres a guitar player I love that is known for using this and to play his material you basically need one of them because it does things no other midi-guitar controller can do. So since I got it, ive been trying to learn about it so I can extend its live as long as possible.

                                              The one that I bought has 2 issues. One I'll cover another time but I think this one is easier and simpler to fix....

                                              Hi guys.I own Z690 F Strix board in one of my PCs....everything was working fine with integrated graphics card.I turned off power from it, installed graphics card from another PC, connected all the peripheral cables, optical sound cable of course when everything was switched off.Then I powered on the machine and integrated soundcard is dead.How did this manage to happen and if there is a way to diagnose and replace damaged component?
                                              The new pci-e soundcard costs here 80 euros which is half of money I spent on motherboard.
                                              I still can not believe that I am such a looser and don't know...
