But yeah, I picked up an ancient AST Bravo 4/33 right around the corner from my house. I tried fitting in this AST FASTRAM card from 87, but no go, DARN! XD

      Haha!
I have TWO of those cards!
One is for good old 8-bit ISA systems and has 2Mb of ram on it and the other, just like yours, is only compatible with specific motherboards.

Ahh, I thought as much! I remember reading that it belonged to a certain model..and I've also found pics of it in a computer museum..

The bravo has a nice case however, I'm wondering If I can't fit an ATX board in there o.O

I don't know what I'd do with the 486 DX it comes with...besides drop in an SX! XD

I thought DX processors were better than SX?

IIRC, the 486SX lacks the floating point unit present in the 486DX. With the 386 it was worse. The SX was ment to be used with 286 motherboards, and so it had a data bus half as wide.

i have friends in escrap who skim off the good rebuildable stuff for me.
several in each major facility around here.
the deal is that when they find stuff they want i fix it for them.

I don't I will ever see one of those in a recycling center or in some guys garage. an 8/e or something similar is more likely but the PDP-8 is unlikely.

                        Well, you can always dream.....

I think the vintage computer forums only has 1 incomplete one.

What would REALLY be cool would be to find a original complete IBM 701.

Talking about recycling, there are a lot of good old computer recycling organizations in Vancouver BC, Canada. They collect or pickup old unwanted electronics and computers, they also setup drop-off locations all around Canada. Some of them donates to charities while some sell the refurbished computers for bargain prices.

True but all the real good stuff us usually shredded or stripped for gold.
For the Vancouver area I just cross my fingers that something good comes into FreeGeek though usually it ends up on the "not for sale" shelf or someplace similar.

I did this one earlier in the week....but knew the server move was coming up so I waited before posting it.

I have never heard of this brand of PSU. The system it was in wouldn't POST, but would power up....and when I saw this PSU, it was my number one suspect.... The system was a dropoff for recycling. I plugged in a test PSU, and the system fired right up....so yea, PSU isn't working right.

                                  Here's the PSU:

                                  Hello guys

I was playing around with a working board, i removed the bios and soldered a dead bios chip, guess what happened...

The laptop came on and quickly shuts down

Sometimes we struggle with such cases where the laptop is coming on and quickly shuts down, not only shorted to ground 5v creates this but even a bios chip causes such thing and some other components.

Please guys you can share some other experiences as well they might help someone

                                  Thank you 🙏🏿

                                  Hi,

I bought a mac air 2012 very cheap, because the customer didn't want to fix. After reflowing the ram chips the laptop works fine, I tested the ram and no error. But The fan goes at max speed after few seconds. Running the Apple diagnostic finds an error 4SNS/1/C0000008: Th1H--124. and the cpu usage is like 300%, After disconnecting the webcam cable that on the 2012 model is on the IO board, the laptop, the laptop runs fine, and running the apple diagnostic finds no errors. So the problem is related with the webcam, but I suspect the problem is no the webcam but the light sensor....

I have a 75uq7590pub that was dropped off for recycling. The Tv powers on and has audio but no picture, the backlights are working. Here is what I have attempted so far. Replaced main board, tried connecting one ribbon at time and testing. Not sure where to go from here. Any ideas?

                                  Thanks!!
