Re: ASUS A8V won't post?
Yes, I visually inspected the caps, one of the first things I did, and they looked fine. I really like the board, so I may send it in, as soon as I get the cash. It's for one of my file servers, and I've had good luck with my other recaps from here x3

ASUS A8V won't post?
An A8V I salvaged finally died. I can't tell once wrong, but I've swapped out the Video Card, power supply, and RAM, all of which are fine.I have also swapped the RAM around, trying all the slots with just one stick of RAM at a time. The CPU also works in my other socket 939 boards as well. The A8V will power up, it just won't POST, or even beep.
Has anyone heard of this before, and know a solution?

Good 24/7 PSU for P3/4, s462?
I need a good ten or more power supplies for my salvaged machines that I run as file servers and such. They range from socket 370 P3's to Socket 478/B P4's to Socket 462 Athlon/XP and Durons. Most of them only have 1-2 5400RPM hard drives and a DVD drive, with 1-3 fans. I was looking in the range of 150-350 watts.
Can Anyone recommend a brand or model?

Good hobby Multimeter with ESR?
I need a good multimeter that will also let me check the ESR on the many, many caps I salvage. I do this at home, so any suggestions?

Motherboard Storage?
I salvage computers and I need some way to store the motherboards until I use them. Since most of these were in cases, I don't have the boxes or anti-static bags. Anyone have any ideas? I was thinking something like those stackable in and out mail things they use in offices.

Why do fluorescent Bulbs (CFL) last only a few months?
We have gotten 20 or so of the new compact fluorescent bulbs over the last 2-3 years to use in place of the old incandescent. But the thing is, they only seem to last a few months, when on the box it usually says YEARS.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Dell dell e152fpc with bad Caps
Well I dug out this Dell e152fpc 15 inch LCD out of our new local recycling center! It would power one, but the backlight would only come on for a second. after asking many questions in an online room, I decided to try and swap out the back lights of an HP Paviallion f50 I dug out on the same day.
Same problem. The cold cathode lights only stayed on for a sec. I was looking at the inverter/power board, when I noticed one of the caps was ever so slightly bulging. After reading up on replacing CCFL tubes on some sites and then on capacitors, I hunted thru what junk I haven't taken...

Rackmount Computer...thingy..
So I polled a couple of rackmount..cases..from the local salvage Tuesday. Two were switches, and they other was some sort of router/computer. It is labaled Golden Tree Communications, and has a Celeron 1300GHZ, a pci slot, a PC100/133, as well as two usb ports, a serial port, a monitor port, some sort of PS/2 looking port as well as ETH4,ETH3,WAN,LAN ports, and some damn proprietary AC adapter power connector (19V), which off course I didn't look for, because stupid me, the others all had three prong connectors. X_x
I am going back to look for it thou, but...
How do I find...

Re: Lots of Fun Problems
Ok, an update for the sound problem:
I have to click a file twice for it to play. The play bar will progress, there will be NO sound. Playing it again will produce sound.
Also, certain movies I have of the type (MVI, MPG, MPEG, MKV,OGM) won't play, but others of the same types will...
I still have to get around to changing the PCI slot the card is in, but then I'll also have to mess with the registry before and after. x_x

Re: Lots of Fun Problems
No it's a eVGA I do believe, and I might try switching PCI slots. And Win2k/XP divides up the registry into a couple differant files, like system, software, etc, called hives....

Re: Compaq Quik silver2-CMT
An odd thing about this board is that when I found it, it had Rubycon caps.

Compaq Quik silver2-CMT
Anyone have experiance with this board?
It's a socket 462 that came in the presario 7000 series I think.
I've found posts from differant forums, but none that have solved how to get the damn thing to post. It's acting JUST like my Dragon when I had the 2200+ in it..

SOYO k7v dragon plus acting odd...
I recently tried to put a 2200+ ahtlon in my dragon with no success, so I popped in a 1600+. Well I was browesing thru one of it's HD's, and it froze up. I did I hard restart..and no POST, no beeps either. It had power, and all the fans were spinning, and the green LED near the CMOS battery was lit.
It was behaving just like it did when I had the 2200+ in it!
So after removing all the PCI cards, disconnecting the drives, and swapping two other CPU's into it, I put the original CPU..and it booted!
I'm a bit concerned here thou, because it has been acting...
