So far it only affects those business that are small enough to get their updates directly from MS. Most larger business have their own update server since updates must be tested and verified by IT personnel on test systems before they are sent out to the general user base (too many bad updates leading to downtime/business impacts to trust MS).

However this could be a major issue for small/medium sized business, especially those who don't lock down permissions on their systems (so a user could actually download and install win10), imagine a bunch of "non-technical" not knowing any better clicking on the pop-up and installing Win10 and breaking most of the business software on their machines, which could lead to major downtime and serious business impacts as the affected systems have to be reverted to win7 or re-imaged (especially for small companies that don't have dozens/hundreds of space computers like most major corporations do to get users back up quickly after a major failure, or large numbers of IT personnel to fix the problems).

    links later.
Still no harrasment popup here on my 7, and it's those corps that don't use WSUS. So real business networks with proper admins aren't going to see any change nor any pop ups.

That is total BS as long as the CPUs are still standard architecture (x86/x64) it takes no effort on Microsoft's part to make it compatible, so they are deliberately detecting the newer CPUs and making it not work/become un supported.

This is going to definitely piss off a lot of business users most of which have no plans to update to Win 10 any time soon, and even the ones that do will likely take years to make the transition due to the need to make their business software compatible or replace it with software that is (most of the software vendors we use at work haven't put any significant effort in making their software win10 compatible/compliant aside from MS itself, so it will be years until most business software id compatible/certified for win 10).

Microsoft is getting way too aggressive at pushing Win 10 and it has really bitten them in the ass, so what do they do push it even harder and it is only going to fan the flames of discontent and possibly push their biggest/most valuable customers (business users) to look elseware.

Unfortunately for Microborg, most users are not the retards they would like them to be, and thus are not interested in bullshit operating systems.

    Well, DX12 is Win10 exclusive...

And that's how previous versions came out of the box. Grandma would not know what updates are or that they can be turned off.

What do the bangs mean? I imagine that it would be that it can be done, but with aftermarket solutions. I'm especially looking at the one about uninstalling all bundled "apps." I'd require that before 10 would become an option-- and I mean ALL "apps," including bits of the UI that use apps instead of traditional dialogs.

Windows knows my PC is not a mobile device with a tiny touch screen meant to be operated with big, fat, clumsy fingers, so there's no reason I should ever be looking at any metro/modern/universal stuff, whatever they are calling it these days.

That's in addition to the other stuff, like a Win7 level of control over updates, a way to turn off ALL telemetry permanently without having to resort to "hacks," and a way to eradicate Cortana completely.

I actually like the new start menu. Unlike W8.1 where i would run Classic Shell, i did not install any start menu replacements on Win10.

I know of one other person who has a high-end workstation laptop and upgraded from W7, and he says it performs better than 7 did, and he's had no major issues so far, either.

I did try Windows 10 Pro (had a spare 8 Pro key) on my gaming laptop.
I've disabled unneeded features (Cortana, tracking stuff, etc.), used a local account and installed Start10. With these tweaks, W10 works almost the same as W7.

W10 is fine for me, but I would not switch from W7 (maybe from W8, but not from W7).

I have been using it for around 3 months and have had zero issues. Apart from it installing the wrong version of the touchpad driver for my laptop every few hours, but that was fixed by disabling automatic driver updates.

It is faster and more stable than any Windows version i have used so far, and it's also slimmer, coming in around 4-5GB smaller than Windows 8.1. That would be a first for any Microsoft OS, being smaller than the previous version. I have installed it so far on a variety of hardware old and new with no issues. If it ran Win7, it's gonna run 10. Chances are it's gonna run it better than it did 7. I have disabled Cortana and all that nasty tracking stuff from the start.

One thing i disliked about it is that it's UGLY by default. However, this, this and this made it look great.
