I attempted to install a wireless Driver for my D-Link Xtreme N Dual Band USB Adapter on a Windows 8.1 desktop. Windows disallowed the install, even though I had downloaded the Driver from the D-Link website. The message advised me to go back to the D-Link website and get a "digitally signed" driver.
There is only one Driver for Windows 8 in the D-Link site. I guess this is an older wireless card and D-Link does not want to pay MS to approve the Driver.
Is this an issue for Windows 7 as well?
I built this machine so my wife could do her genealogy program.
Since then I have gotten her genealogy program to run under Linux.
The D-Link card won't run under Linux without a lot of diddling around so it's just about useless.
So much for Windows 8 and D-Link!
